Wild vs. Vancouver Canucks
2003 Stanley Cup Western Conf. Semi-finals
May 2, 2003 - Game #4
Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul
3-2 Overtime Loss
The Wild's miracle on ice continues...now they're in the Western Conference Semi-finals against their Northwest Division rivals, the Vancouver Canucks.  There has been plenty of bad blood between these two teams in the past 3 years - so this series was billed as a great one from the get-go.  We missed the first home game in this series and the Wild lost.  We hoped that our presence would turn things around tonight.  Kristi and Dewey joined me again at the game.  We started celebrating early with a block party three hours before the game - plenty of brats and beer to go around and a great band cranked the tunes.  The Wild fought a tough game and were leading in the 3rd period, but the Canucks rallied to tie the game and won it in overtime.  There were some questionable calls and no-calls in the game tonight that could have easily tilted the game in the other direction.  It was also the first game that our favorite Finnish player, Antti Laaksonen, was scratched from the lineup.  Up until then Antti had played in every single Wild game in franchise history - a total of 246 games regular season games and 10 playoff games.  The Canucks are now up 3-1 in the series, but the Wild could have easily won Game #1 and #4 to be up 3-1.  Maybe there will be another miracle on ice and a Game #6 back in St. Paul!

Great band - lots of people watching.
Kristi and Heather even caught a few rays bouncing off the glass wall of the Xcel Energy Center.  Can you believe this - hockey in May?!
