REIKI
The word "Reiki" (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word which roughly translated, means Universal Life Force Energy.  This life force flows through every living thing, including animals, plants & even rocks: hence a quartz crystal can generate enough power to run a clock mechanism.
Reiki used as a complimentary therapy is a natural healing process which is based upon this universal life force.  The Reiki Practitioner does not heal their clients, they merely act as a channel to transfer healing energy into the recipient, thus stimulating the body's own natural healing powers.  No belief in theory or dogma is required, all that is needed is the desire to be healed.
Whether it is by putting an arm around their shoulder or holding their hand, it is the most natural thing in the world to want to reach out and touch somebody in order to comfort them.  Now imagine, if you could actually channel that healing intent through your hands.  Well this, for me, is the essence of Reiki.
Reiki is a Japanese form of spiritual healing which can ease stress, clear the mind and restore clarity, releive physical ailments and provide comfort and peace in times of trouble.  It is incredibly versatile.  Healing energy can be transferred through the hands and applied to heal yourself as well as others, and even your pets and plants! My cat Albert is a real "Reiki Junkie" he nudges me to give him reiki at every opportunity!

The term "Reiki" comes from the word "Rei" meaning universal, and "Ki", the Japanese for "Qi", the life force that is inherent in everything.  When this life force is flowing freely, we are healthy and happy, when this energy it is low we are far more susceptible to both physical illness and emotional stress.

In Reiki Therapy, this universal energy is activated by the practitioner and passed on to the recipient, where it replenishes areas that have been depleated of energy and stimulates the body's own natural ability to heal itself.  During a session, the energy enters through the head of the practitioner, into their chakras, it is then redirected by the practitioner, to flow out through their hands an into the client, to heal and balance mind, body & spirit.
