Study Buddies

Beverley and Allison have been friends from seventh grade to 7th Heaven!

Getting used to your college roomate normally takes some time, but 7th Heaven's Beverley Mitchell and her roomie Allison McGill had a head start: The 19-year-old college freshmen have been best friends ever since junior high school, and now they share a cozy dorm room at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

"I wasn't at all nervous about us living together, but Ali really was," says Beverley.

"I just didn't want anything to come between us or ruin our friendship," Allison says.  "But the more I thought about it, it was nice that there would be someone in my room who wouldn't judge me if I did something weird, because she already knows me."

Back in the Day

Allison first spent the night at Beverley's in seventh grade, when they had to make a time-capsule video for class.  "That was our first bonding experience," says Beverley.  But it definitely wasn't the last.  "High school was so tough for me," she says.  "Because of my shooting schedule, I'd only be able to come to school like once every eight days.  I just felt like I didn't belong anymore."

"She was kind of on the outside," says Allison.  "People always thought that because she was on television she didn't need to be part of the high school scene.  But she just wanted to be a normal kid."

"Allison was always there for me," says Bev.  "We'd be up for hours talking on the phone about everything.  If she saw me at school and I wasn't happy, she could always tell."

Let the Good Times Roll

College is lots more fun.  The girls have been known to get a little crazy (they once made a 2:00 a.m. grocery-store run in their pj's).  They also love to scope cute guys in Santa Monica.  Though neither is dating anyone seriously right now, they do occasionally have guy friends over.  "We respect each other's privacy," says Bev.  "If a guy is coming over, I'll give him and Allison some time alone."

"But we both know it's the other person's room too," says Allison.  "Usually if there are guys here, we'll just all watch a movie together or go out somewhere."

Despite living in such quarters, the girls swear they've never had a fight.  "Everyone gets frustrated sometimes," Beverley says.  "With us, we can take it out on each other and then get over it.  Hey, some things just fit."
