Spiritual Warfare
Lesson #10
Be strong in the Lord.

Before Paul begins his message on armor,
he first urges us to receive supernatural power!
In this chapter we are going to see what Paul has to say about this supernatural power that God made available to us.

Ephesians 6:10 says,

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might.

What does it mean to be strong?
First of all, the word strong is taken
from the word endunamoo.
The word endunamoo which is a compound of the Greek worn en and dunamis means explosive strength, ability, or power.
The word dunamis is where we get the word dynamite.

Taken together as one word, as Paul uses in this text the word endunamoo desribes an impowering or an inner strengthening.
It's conveys the idea of being infused with an excessive dose of dynamic
Inner strength and ability.

We are specially designed by God to be
receptacles for this divine power.
Thus, the reason Paul urges us,
Finally, my brethren, be strong.
The idea is "receive a supernatural, strengthening ,
Internal deposit of power into your inner man.
In other words before you even attempt to go into battle with satan
You must be strong, and the only way this can happen is that you must go to the Lord and ask him to fill you with that divine power.
We cannot fight the enemy in our own strength.

Paul knew that we desperately needed this special touch of supernatural power in order to successfully combat the attacks that the enemy would bring against our lives.
Paul was not suggesting that we receive this power,
he was commanding us to receive it.
Without this power we are no match for satans schemes and devices.
You must remember that satan is keen,
cunning, and shrewd.
He knows exactly when to strike with his destructive powers.

Naturally speaking our physical strength does not even begin to compare to his.
You must remember that satan was a powerful brilliant angel before he fell into his present perverted condition. And although fallen he has still retained much of his former intelligence which was originally given to him by God.
It is true that Jesus stripped him of his legal authority over us, but his intelligence is still in tact.
Powerful as the devil may be, he is still no match for the all surpassing power of The Holy Spirit, and the devil knows this.
Therefore he seeks to outwit our natural minds.
To stop these satanic strategies,
We must receive this special
empowering from on high.
I cannot stress this point enough.
This mighty power can only be found in one
place and that is in the Lord.
So before you begin any type of spiritual warfare, make sure that you go to the Lord and ask him to fill you with his mighty power.
We have tried to fight the enemy
far to long in our flesh.
It is time that we do it God's way.
Not only ask the Lord for His power,
But we must also ask him to teach us how to use it.
