A Page From The Past |
Here are a few poems that I happened across while looking for something else one day. They were written from 1989 to 1992 and I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did...again. |

A Right Time to Die There's nothing more preciuos in this world than a child. His eyes so sparkling his skin so mild. He cries for his daddy he isn't there. He cries for his mama she doesn't care. He sits in a corner, his eyes closed tight. Hopeing and praying with all his might, that the the bruise on his cheek didn't show too much, and the broken nose didn't hurt when he touched. The neighbors said nothing, they didn't care. As long as it didn't happen while they were there. He lay in bed late that night, wondering what had caused the fight. He needed to be loved, and held, and cared for. But instead, when he tried, he got knocked to the floor. The sparkel is no longer in his eyes, He just sits now and waits for the right time to die. Sept. 1989 |
A Single Tree Just like a mountain With one single tree This lonely day’s been haunting me All the heartache And all the pain Is something, right now I can’t sustain. Yesterday I felt I had a chance with you. And today she came in With that diamond so blue. On her special day I crawled into a shell. But to you and to her, That was all to well. Her happiness is for her But what about me? Just like that mountain with one single tree. Nov. 1991 |
To Die Alone He sits in a corner in a comfortable chair. Afraid to go out in the cold winter air. He wishes someone Would come around, But to thinks to ask Would be out of bounds. All he really needs Is something constructive to do, For his body is frail, And now his mind is too. One day we will find him in that chair in his home. Oh Lord, let us help him So he won’t die alone. Dec.2, 1989 |
