Heavyporker's Home on the Web
Introduction:
This page is for the real science stuff that I like to look into. Also some technological stuff. I'm also quite interested in holography, taking some courses at OSU in regards to this. Very... superficial at the moment, please forgive me.
The Real World Science
Science-oriented Magazines
- Scientific American This is pretty darn good bathroom reading material. Lucky I have self-discipline, or I'd be in the bathrooms for hours on end. A lot of nice general science stuff.
- Popular Science/Mechanics is another, although PM talks a bit too much about cars for my taste.
- National GeographicThis fills much of my time (when I get ahold of an issue).
- PBS Online ... Ahhh, now, that's public television more than worth the money (if you ignore the weekday mornings of prepubescent shows (urrrch....), of course)... I swear, I'd donate a million bucks if I had it to spare. But I don't, so... I'll support it by linking to it.
Robots
Robots... the people of the future? We seem to be striving to make the mechanical world that we have mastered to mimic us, perhaps to get companions trekking the path of life, or get the feeling of gods ruling over their subjects? Right now, just the one, but I do have other links on hand.
- Battlebots Whoo, hot damn! This show (it used to be on the Comedy Channel) features fighting robots that strive to kill and main each other- I'm not kidding. There was another fighting robot show, but it went under pretty quickly, I think.
Holography
A new hobby that I acquired, and it's such a beautiful art. This makes you really think about what you're REALLY seeing and the nature of reality. I urge you to try it out, make a few holograms...
