Community Profile
Located north of the Kankakee River in Porter County, Hebron is a 36 square mile rural community of lower-middle to upper-middle class families. A steadily growing population has resulted in new housing developments of multi-family dwellings and single family homes. Several large sections of property within Boone Township consist of family owned and operated farms, which produce crops and dairy products.The buisness community is comprised of smaller, more personalized commerce, providing basic goods and services to the town and surrounding areas. Many of the businesses are owned by local families, including a full-service grocery store, printing shops, restaurants, gift shops, video stores, pharmacy, family hair salons, auto repair shops, auto parts stores, hardware store, offices for attorneys, insurance, and real estate services. The locally-owned telephone company is also a
major provider of internet services throughout Northwest Indiana. Nationally known businesses are represented by fast-food restaurants and drug/variety store chains.
