TImmy: the Greatest Story Never Told

Introduction: In the Time of the Ancients There was an Evil (added 10/31)

As if to chase the stars away, a sword is thrust upward into the navy blue medieval sky. Forged with the finest metal & laced with more jewels than in all of Egypt, a weapon of this caliber is not of common fare. A crowd of poor peasants, aging land owners and valiant knights gather round the procession and await patiently for the elders to speak.

On command the sword rests at ease as an a old man makes his way through the concerned masses. The old man has grown weak through the years, but remains strong in spirit.. "Fellow village folk" he says with great empathy. "I know ye to be frightened of the blackness that overcome our settlement, the terrible curse that has threatened our very existence. There are demons in these woods, nests of the most vile dragons in our trees, and serpents blood thirsty lurking in our rivers"

The crowd roars in approval, and quickly hushes as the man continues to speak. "It is not without great effort by myself and the council of the elder that we have tried to remedy this terrible nightmare. Through god's majestic wisdom, an angel has been sent to help our cause. A ferocious warrior of the most fearless kind, a knight who will deliver us from evil. Please fellow people welcome with open arms the mighty Hecylbius."

Celebration ensues as the band plays festive songs. The chosen knight approaches adorned in silver and draped in blood red silk. A stallion of a man, Hecylbius can feel the hope these people harbor as he gets closer to the great council. A bible is awaiting his arrival, in this the first ceremony of the 9 wise men in nearly 2 centuries. As if on a cold winter evening, a gust of cold wind hustles through chilling all to the bone.

Upon his arrival the knight's right hand is placed on the bible, the old man staggers forward and begins to speak:" By the power of the council of the elder, and of the 9 wise men of the ancient scripture I offer you the honor of defending the sacred shield." The hillside of people eagerly await his answer, but there is none. The old man is confused and asks again: " do you accept?" Yet Hecylbius remains stone faced, almost blank as he turns to the crowd and recites in Latin an incomprehensible passage:

Sacramentum septem stellarum quas vidisti in dextera mea et septem candelabra aurea septem stellae angeli sunt septem ecclesiarum et candelabra septem septem ecclesiae sunt....Alpha, y Omega!
In mere seconds, the chosen one spins around. With intense focus he removes his dagger and grabs the old man from behind repeating once again. "septem septem ecclesiae sunt....Alpha y Omega!". Before anything can be done, the hope that this man knight promised is exiled back into the far nether regions. In an instant the traitor slits the old man's neck ear to ear.

The murderer was quickly apprehended by the council's troops, yet no harsh justice could restore any sense of faith among the people or the council. The seed had been planted, and in the decade's that passed, an evil had bloomed throughout the land far and wide. Some demons, don't have claws or wings. Some Dragons don't breath fire. They just fester in your soul and gnaw at the purity of one's actions.

Throughout history such an evil has shown it's face over and over again. Witness Hitler's rise to power in Germany and the great success of America's pre-war slave trade. Evil, my friend is all around us… we as human's are eternally struggling with the demons that haunt us. This is one such saga, this is the story of the rock band Heccubus. This is Timmy the Greatest Story Never Told.
