Welcome to the Happy Woodchuck Homepage! Thank you for visiting.
Oh, my word...she actually sort of updated this!

Hi, I'm Jennifer Wojcik. You may remember me from such homepages as...well...never mind. This is my second attempt at a homepage, the first one being rather lame and from about 1995 (created before I was able to upload a page). In the late '90s I became a whirling dervish when it came to home pages...but overall I'm lazy. :) Still, it's about time I updated this page.

What's going on with me...
Well! I've graduated...and left...North Central College in lovely Naperville, IL. I worked at Ellman's Music Center in Naperville for four and a half years (front counter/instrument repair) until January 2004, when I was a substitute band director for the spring semester. I was the assistant for my former band director while the regular assistant went on maternity leave. It was, overall, an enjoyable experience, though that ended in July 2004. (I don't miss the drive. I taught at five schools, and they ranged from 25-45 miles from my house. I also don't miss getting up before 5 AM.) Currently, I'm working part-time at Waldenbooks at Charlestowne Mall ("Illinois' most beautiful mall") in lovely St. Charles, IL. Supposedly I was going to use my free time to write and put part of my college degree to work, but most of the writing I do is put into my Live Journal. Again, I'm lazy.

About me

While the first homepage had a fun question-and-answer section (do believe it when I say I look *exactly* like Claudia Schiffer), I'll be a little more straightforward this time. I'm Jen, but you can call me Wochicken, Woodchuck, Wosocki, Girl Scout, and of course Prudence (as if Jennifer isn't good enough...). I have left out some of the other nicknames given to me...this is a family website. However, if you have a new (decent) nickname for me (or if enough people write me about the bad ones), I'll surely add it on.

I was born on a plantation in Joplin, MS...no, scratch that. I was born and raised in Chicago. At the age of almost 14 (eleven days before my birthday), my family moved out to Batavia, home of Aldi's and Fermilab (and buffalo). We've been out here ever since, and for the most part we enjoy it. I think the worst part is that it's far from our family members, and because Batavia's on the Fox River, it smells like fish every time it rains. But otherwise it's okay.

What I enjoy...
Music. I've played the flute since 1986. I was in band from fourth grade through my fifth year of college, and in flute choirs in high school, college, and beyond. I was in choir for four years in college (alto power!). I had two years of piano lessons in college. I taught myself to play oboe (and clarinet, to a degree) at work. I took violin for a term in college. Because of teaching, I had to learn brass, so I taught myself trumpet and trombone late last year. I enjoy composing songs of a rock-pop nature.

Reading and writing. I've been writing a novel in my head at least since sixth grade. I'm getting better at taking notes on good ideas I've had, but I'm still bad at doing anything with them. I have loved to read FOREVER, hence the working in a bookstore. Stephen King is my favorite author.

Nature and animals. I've had numerous pets. The only one that's still around is Kirby, my cockatiel, but I've also had a labrador, Josh; a lhasa apso, Gizmo; two other birds (Budgie the parakeet and Baby the cockatiel); and five fish (Sniffy, Ozzie, Harriet, Goldie, and Cupid). We've also had four kittens born under our deck, though only two of them made it to the shelter, and I called them Spot and Tiger (renamed Mork and Mindy for adoption purposes).

These are links from people I know...some of my friends have some pretty cool homepages. Check 'em out!

(Oh, by the way...I *have* finally cleared these out. Sorry to everyone who once had a link here...if you no longer have a page, you're no longer mentioned. No hard feelings, 'kay?)

Even my dad has a page! Multiple pages, in fact (yeah, they're weird, but he's old, so I cut him some slack)
