This Painful Day
The free world changed in just a few hours When damage was invoked upon the twin towers Who could have thought such evil could exist When the minds of terrorists begin to twist
My thoughts are scattered and the words do not come My mind is blank and my heart is numb The events of this week are overcome by emotion It’s difficult to comprehend amidst the commotion
I could write about life lost from a senseless act I could write about the anger from these attacks I could write about death and the Devil who had won I could write about God and how I feel there is none
In reality I can’t write about any of the above My mind is blank and there’s nothing I can think of My heart cries for those who have lost their lives My heart cries for those who were spared and survive
The minutes seem like hours in the darkest of times The only hope I see is when the stars begin to shine Each translucent spark of light that radiates the sky Represents a special soul who has passed us by
Perhaps someday when the world is at peace Comfort will be found in the light the souls release Until that time arrives, the only thing I can say Is that the words do not come on this painful day
