Happy Mother's Day

Mom at 18 years old

This is a brief story about our mom.

Mom was born in Southern California, moved to Northern California when she was about 3 years old.  She has lived all her life in California, most of it being in the San Francisco Bay Area.  She gave birth to 3 children; Jackie, Gary and Heidi, and also have 2 step children; Rick and Sheila. She has 7 grandsons, and 4 grandaughters plus 2 great-grand sons and 2 on the way. and with all these children in her life, she holds a special spot in her heart for each one of them, never forgetting a birthday or holidays inbetween. Each one is very special to her.

As a child I can always remember mom being there, although she had to work to help support the family, she still had time.  She was always there for school functions, being part of the PTA, worked in carnivals, etc,  she was there throughout brownies and girlscouts, going to camp with us, helping with cookie and calender sales,  helping with the other girls and their needs too. I joined Job Daughters when I was 12 and she saw me through till I was 18, taking part in dinners, dances, rumage sales, going to all the meetings she could, also taking time to be with us at conventions, sometimes having to travel a long distance and stay a few  nights.  In high school I was elected to Honored Queen and the next year to be a State Officer, once again there was mom right by my side.  I can remember my friends then thought of her as their second mother.  Everyone loved her then and still does.  Mom you are a Wonder!  Thank you mom for being there!!  When I think back I realize how much she really did with me, where did you get the time mom, did you ever do anything for yourself.  How selfish I feel at times like this, sitting here thinking back of all the things we did together.  Now at such a late age in my life I can finally sit back and appreciate it all.  I can't say enough about our mom.

Her new nickname is Computer Moma, she got a Web Tv for Christmas and ever since she has been enjoying the new world of the internet.  She is a good Christian woman, and loves to find and read all the Christian Sites she can , spending hours just going all through them.  Mom has learned so much by herself, just reading and doing, she won't give up until she figures something out.  Now she's quite a chatter on Talk City and has met some nice friends. We have created a room called Mom and Me, your welcome any time to come join us.  Through email she has met friends all over the nation, signing each and every guest book at every site she goes to visit.  Our mom is a wonder, never giving up!

She likes to write poetery, and last year I got her to write a poem  for me, I have it published on my page.  I hope you will visit it.  Its called the TheWonder of it All!!

She is known to several as Grandma.  Just a few weeks ago, I went to church with her, there wasn't a person who didn't come with a hug and and some nice words for Grandma.  Anyone who comes in contact with her can always feel the warmth of the loving person she is.  Now mom is very active with the church, always there when they need something.  I remember last year for Vacation Bible School, for all the little children she made cookies shaped like a hand there had to be over a hundred of them.  One Sunday a month, her and dad go and help feed the homeless, at the park, making sure theres always a little extra so no one goes without.  She goes to Bible Study with the ladies on Wednesday afternoon and is starting in a new Bible Class for couples on Thursday evenings.  Oh and then there are the Deakoness Meetings, where they plan and prepare for communion and other church functions throughout the year.
