Lord Anubis
Back
This page is dedicated to the mysterious god Anubis, my spiritual father. Lord Anubis is a very loving god who looks after his children with tender care and love, and watches over them from his heavenly abode. To me, he is my merciful redeemer and my pillar of strength. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be standing here today in this beautiful world. I had been afflicted with major depression for several months, and as time passed me by, I only seemed to be sinking lower in my sadness. It came to the point where I was on the verge of commiting suicide, and it seemed to me that nothing could save me. But one night, I had a vision. It was of Lord Anubis telling me that suicide
wasn't the way to go, and I'd only leave behind pain and sorrow for my loved ones. From that night onward, I strived to live my life the best my abilities would allow me, and uphold honor and high morals. I'm now much happier than what I ever was in the past, and it's all thanks to Lord Anubis' love and guidance. He truly is my light of salvation, and I never know what I'd do it without him.
Anubis is often portrayed as a man with the head of a jackal, or as a jackal reclining in a sitting position. The jackal was a scavenging animal that was often seen roaming arounding tombs and other places raiding for scraps. As a "psychopompos," Anubis' duty was to guide the soul of a deceased individual into the Hall of Ma'at where their heart would be weighed on the scales against the feather of Ma'at. If the heart was so empty of sin that it weighed less than the feather, the deceased was permitted passage into the afterlife, but if the heart weighed more than the feather of truth, then it was tossed to Ammut to be devoured. This devouring of the heart marked the demise of the dead individual, and their soul would cease to exist. Divine justice hath smote them.
