| The priests assist the bishops in the care of souls. Although all priests assist the bishop in the care of souls, parish priests are given the definite care of a section of a diocese, which is called a parish and is of ecclesiastical institution. “In each church they installed presbyters and, with prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they put their faith." (Acts14:22).
All in the Church are called to care for souls . The laity can help the Church in her care of souls by leading lives that will reflect credit on the Church, and by cooperating with their bishops and priests especially through the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. “In the same way, your light must shine before men so that they may see goodness in your acts and give praise to your heavenly Father” (Matt.4:2-3). Saint Paul said, "I plead with you Evodia just as I do with Syntyche: come to some mutual understanding in the Lord. Yes, I ask you, too, my dependable fellow worker, to go to their aid; they have struggled at my side in promoting the Gospel, along with Clement and the others who have labored with me, whose names are in the book of life (Phil4:2-3). Saint Peter said, “Though the pagans may slander you as troublemakers, conduct yourself blamelessly among them. By observing your good works they may give glory to God on the day of visitation” (1Pt2:12). As Members of the Church we Share in God’s Own Life The Church is a divine organization founded by the Son of God, receiving its life from the Holy Spirit, who on Pentecost came down on the Apostles, the first Bishops, to give them light and strength, and to dwell in the Church, as its soul, until the end of time. As members of the Church we all share in this divine life, We should accept the teachings of the Church, and make use of the means of holiness that the Church provides. We should obey the Church with the conviction that Christ himself is teaching, sanctifying, and ruling us through his representatives, the Pope, and the bishops. |

| It is a matter of faith that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son and is sent by Both to dwell in the Church. “The Paraclete, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will instruct you in everything, and remind you of all that I have told you" (Jn14:26). "When the Paraclete comes, the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father and whom I myself will send from the Father, he will bear witness on my behalf" (Jn15:26). “Yet I tell you the sober truth: It is much better for you that I go. If I fail to go, the Paraclete will never come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you"(Jn 16:7). | ||||||||
