Seaside Woman - In Cannes
Paul and Linda traveled to Cannes, France, on Friday, May 16, 1980, for the 33rd Annual Cannes Film Festival in the South of France, where Oscar Grillo's five-minute animated film Seaside Woman, based around Linda's 1973 song of the same title, won the first prize, the Palm D'Or, in the short film category. Paul later revealed that during its screening at the Festival, he and Linda sneaked in unnannounced to watch their film, and the applause at the conclusion was one of their fondest memories.

After facing a lenghty photo call from the press, the McCartneys were briefly interviewed by the American columnist Rex Reed for his ITV programme Diary of the Cannes Film Festival.
