I warn you all now, those of you that don't wish to see naked flesh or are of a homophobic disposition then don't bother looking at this page, i don't want people emailing me hate mail.
Bound was released in 1996, it's written and directed by the Wachowski brothers, better known for their other film 'The Matrix'.  This film stars, Gina Gershon (Face Off, The Insider) who plays Corky a lesbian who has just got out of jail, and Jennifer Tilly (Bride Of Chucky, Liar Liar) who play Violet, mafia launder Ceasers' trophy girlfriend, but she happens to have a taste for girlfriends to.  The basic storyline is that Ceaser comes across $2million, around that figure anyway, and Corky and Violet want the money and so a trail of events unravel as they try to steal the money from Ceaser, who isn't going to give it up without a fight.
This film is just fantosstic!  I bought it becasue i loved The Matrix and as it's written and directed by the same guys i was curious as to what their prior work was like.  If anything this film is better than The Matrix in my view, their different genres so it's difficult to compare the two, but the directional style in Bound caught my attention more, with the sweeping camera work etc..  This film couldn't be made any better, i forced a friend to watch this as part of her 'film education' and afterwards when we discussed it we realised and agreed that the storyline wouldn't be as convincing or as good unless the two women got together.  If it had been a bloke and a woman it just wouldn't have worked anywhere near as well.
The Wachowski brothers aren't afraid to be very upfront, this film has the most realistic sex scene i have ever seen in a film yet!  I have a particular interest in gay cinema because it's often viewed as something very non-conformist yet in the majority of gay films there are always very heavy sterotyping.  In some ways Corky and Violet live up to this, particulary in the way their charcters dress and act.  Violet being a femme making the first move, wearing loadsa make-up and dominating the realtionship and Corky being butch; the tattoos, drinking black coffee, beer and doing all the physical fighting with Ceaser.  Even though the wachowski brothers stick to these sterotypes they twist certain things which go away from them.  For example, usually in a film were you have the rise of a gay relationship one of the charcaters will 'turn' in the film.  Initailly we are given the impression that Violet is straight, the fact that she's with Ceaser, but certain things in retrospect give us the impression that she is attracted to Corky.  However later in the film we do find out that Violet is gay or whatever and is suprisingly very secure and aware of her sexuality.
You can watch this film time and time again and never get bored of it, and everytime you watch it you'll notice something new that adds to your enjoyment of the film.  The most amusing one i noticed, which i will try and explain without giving too much away, when Corky mets Ceaser for the first proper time (actually talks to him, while she's in his and Violets apartment) look at which hand she shakes his hand with and think about what she was doing with THAT hand a few minutes ago in the film.
The structure of the storyline also helps to keep your interest, in the second half of the film we have Corky telling Violet her plan to steal the money and it cuts between this and her and Violet actually doing it.  This works so well, like i said it stops making the film feel too long, even though it only 1 hour and 44 mins.
I have the first draft of the script, which inlcudes an alternative ending, extra scenes etc..  If you would like to read this click on one of the logos at the bottom of the page and i'll email you a copy of the script.  I recommend you read this script if you have already seen the film, it helps give more background on the characters etc. But if you haven't seen the film don't read the script until you've seen it or your ruin your little cinematic experience.
Certain things from this page, the background, and from various other pages on my site came from 'Gillyboo's Gay Graphics' click on one of the thingies at the bottom and it links to their page, do go they have lotsa cool stuff.
So working through the piccies starting from the top:  We have two versions of the Bound movie poster. Then we have a promo shot of Corky and Violet, then a scene from the film. The we move onto two promo shots, the black and white and the big one, of Corky and Violet i like these as you get to see more of Corkys' tattoos, you don't get to see her back one in the film.  Finally, this is my fav, a scene from the movie.  You have to see the bit leading upto it but i love this scene because of the camera work, it's just GENIUS!
I have other pictures from the film, but these are all i could fit on, i have a picture of Corky's prison file and a cartoon advertising the film, if you want a copy of these just email me and i'll send them to you.  As always i stole all these pictures from other peoples websites, sorry.
