NOT Literally ! No the amp didn't smoke... But not for a lack of trying!!

Our evaluaton is complete on the Veronica 20 watt amplifier. We tweaked
it , peaked it, let it run for 3 days without a fan, and it STILL puts out 20
watts. Even after OOOPS ! I forgot to hook up the dummy load !

This design is based on the BLX 69 transistor. ( I can hardly read the thing )
This data may be wrong ! Anyway, our test unit was tuned up to 100.00
as a test frequency. We drove it with a Veronica 1 watt PLL. This cute
little design is built on a 4" X 3" approx. heatsink with 2 SO-239 connectors
on top. We would have thought that the heatsink would have been
too small, but since the device develops less heat than the BGY based
stuff, it seemed that it was happy with this much dissipation area. As small as
it is , the amp has a reasonably good gain considering the 1 to 20 factor in
overall amplification.

How about the harmonics ???? I knew you would ask that ! !
The amp was supplied to us with a funny looking cable which was supposed
to be "to assist in the elimination in harmonics, etc. ".... So to the spectrum

analyizer we went... -50dB on seconds with the suppied cable....- 50 on second
order harmonics with a piece of crap jumper we found laying on the shop floor!
Overall, and since we tested this with the Veronica PLL, its about as clean
as you can ask for in the price range. Filtering required ??? Naw ... Just use

a good exciter with one watt of drive. Fan required??? Up to you, we suggest
it whether you like it or not, but ours didn't even get hot enough to fry any e
ggs.
As usual, Veronica supplied a tuning indicator LED, so you can tune the ONE
little variable cap to the correct frequency without having to buy a wattmeter.

COST???? Well I can't say ... About $150.00US built. Veronica does not
want to sell the item as a kit. Availability ??? Probably about 1 to 2 weeks
before the stock starts rolling into the US. Please call the shop to gather
more information !

As usual, Veronica FM has provided the people with a reliable piece of
equipment at a reasonable price. Order now...Operators are standing by !
