This release focuses on the music recorded after Electric Ladyland's release. Jimi was exploring the boundaries of his music, and of himself. No longer satisfied with 3 and a half minute singles, Jimi would jam for 10 or 20 minutes at a time, sometimes longer.
Just looking for inspiration, and ideas from the music. Some jams would go nowhere, and run out of steam quickly. Others would spark an idea, and Jimi would quickly seize it and try to take it somewhere magical.
Some of these tracks have come out on the official releases, either in remixed forms, or with additional overdubs, alternate takes, etc.
