This one is...unusual to say the least. Electric Lady Mixing Sessions appears, from listening to it, to be a collection of the backing tracks, overdubs, and alternate takes of a few of Jimi's songs.
You can hear some people talking on occasion if you listen carefully, very faintly, including Jimi himself. This is a hard one to rate. When I first saw the track listing, I figured,"WOW!, a 41 minute version of Drifting?
This must be the recording sessions for it." Not quite, but then again, not quite...not. Are you confused? Me too! :) Some of the sections of the songs are quite interesting, seeing Jimi experimenting with different sounds, effects, etc.
But not a CD you would put on at a party. For that, I'd go with Electric Ladyland. Loud. :)
Quality is hard to describe, it varies from track to track, and even during each "song". No complete songs here, this is a CD for the hardcore Hendrix collector only, though an interesting one...
I think.
I'll have to get back to you on this one :)
