Last American Concert

A double CD ROIO, Last American Concert Vol.1 & 2 feature Jimi's performance on July 30, 1970 during what would be filmed and shown in the movie Rainbow Bridge. A pitiful movie, about sex & drugs during the 60's, is saved only by the live concert at the end of the movie. Although not the best concert the band played, these shows presented some of the ideas Jimi was working on at the time of his death, the experimentation in his music. Volume 1 features the early show, Volume 2 the later one. But for some unknown reason, one song is missing from each show. The first show is missing the opening track Spanish Castle Magic, the second is missing the final song, a drum solo-Stone Free-Hey Joe medley. And there's no reason to drop the tracks, as they would still easily fit onto the CDs. Typical poor bootlegger habit, don't present the complete show. As with most ROIOs, hard to find. But definitely worth a listen, and historically worthwhile, these being Jimi's last concerts on U.S. soil before his death in September later that year. I just wish these were the complete shows.
