The Voodoo Sessions

Only two tracks on this CD? Is this a rip-off or what?? No way!!! The Voodoo Sessions features the recording sessions for two of my 3 favorite songs from Electric Ladyland; The classics Voodoo Chile, and Voodoo Child (Slight Return)
Starting off with the Slight Return sessions, the band goes through 8 takes before finally achieving what would become the master take for VC(sr). Takes break down due to missed notes, a broken string at one point, missed lines, etc, making for an interesting look into the creative process of what would become a true guitar classic. Voodoo Chile goes through the same process, though it's more of a relaxed atmosphere with this song. Laid back, and just grooving with friends Steve Winwood on organ, Jack Casady on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums. Just amazing the music that came out of these sessions...

Sound quality is excellent on this CD, though I think it's a tiny bit slow. Maybe just my imagination though. But if you're a fan of Electric Ladyland, you will most certainly enjoy this CD. Now if they'd just come out with a CD of the 1983...A Merman I Should Turn To Be sessions, I'd be an extremely happy camper :)
