On October 11, 1909, Mrs. Caroline Hardee
Godfrey, State Regent of the Georgia Society
of the National Society Daughters of the
American Revolution, met with thirteen ladies
in Madison to discuss the possibilities
of organizing a DAR chapter in Madison.
They met at the home of Mrs. Sue Reid Walton
Manley.

Henry Walton was the name selected for the Chapter.
Henry Walton was from Brunswick County, Virginia.
He was qualified as a Captain in the Army in 1777
and served in the American Revolution.

Mrs. Godfrey officially organized the Henry
Walton Chapter on March 2, 1910, with the following
officers: Mrs. Sue Reid Manley, Regent; Mrs Kittie
Fitzpatrick, Vice Regent; Mrs. Lula Atkinson, Recording
Secretary; Mrs. Mary Walton Trammell Newton,
Corresponding Secretary; Mrs. Lula Holland, Treasurer;
Miss Bessie Walton, Registrar; and Mrs. Anna
Trammell, Historian.

Since that time, the Henry Walton Chapter NSDAR
has continued to serve and follow the NSDAR Motto,
"God, Home and Country."
