In February 2000 we went to Ottawa to the 22nd edition of the North American's greatest winter festival and one of the best in the world, the famous Winterlude/Bal de Neige. In the picture below it can be seen, not really well, a part of the Ottawa city and part of Ottawa River. This picture was taken on the bridge which connects Ottawa in the province of Ontario and Hull in the province of Quebec.
Well, let's start with the odyssey of this trip. I was eager to use my new glider which I really used in Ottawa because coming to Ottawa in snowy season without a glider is like having a birthday party without cake. Look at me.
It's wonderful! We never imagine we could be like that. As you can see behind us there are the ice slide which are in Hull. We three had lots of fun sliding down.
In the same park there was also this big snow sculpture. Some other snow sculptures of amazing dimensions were at the Parliament Hill. Those sculptures were truly impressive; since it was night and we didn't take so many pictures, our best picture, not precisely of the best sculpture, is the following.
Not only the snow sculptures were present at the Winterlude 2000 in Ottawa-Hull, ice sculptures also count with grandiose models.
The following day of our stay in Ottawa, Febraury 13, we started our journey on ice at Dow's Lake where hundreds of persons go to skate; I am sill on my glider. In the picture below you can see the Rideau Canal which is the longest skating rink in the world. In year 2000 the canal was celebrating its 30th season and it is one of the main attractions of the season.
In the following picture we'll see the building of the Canada's National Library. I' still on my glider.
And in this is the most representative building of the Canada's capital, the Parliament Building.
Otro edificio esplendoroso, cuyo nombre hemos olvidado; se encuentra del lado este del Parliament Hill.
This time not so dark, one of the best snow sculptures; what do you think about this?
Now two ice sculptures. The contest of ice sculptures is split in three categories; it's obvious that in the professional category we can appreciate the best worked pieces with a special care on the multitude of small details.
