Having a computer is both a blessing and a curse...
I've been online since 1992. Which is forever in tech years. The boy introduced me to Dune MUSH. It was an addiction. I wasn't much good at the role-playing. It did suck up most of my free time. And class time. When I started back to school during my mush'ing addiction, it was bad. I would skip classes to get online. It would be my second failure at the college level. A couple years and a minimum wage job later, I got in to a new job to do graphic design as a student worker on my third attempt at college. It very soon became a full-time position and my schooling got pushed back (which really isn't a hardship as I am a printmaking major with a minor in surface design, and what can anyone do with a BFA in fine arts that they cannot do with a degree?). I actually do create better web sites than this very simple one here... (I am working on some more interactive things with a better layout, this is free and my time is not).
Offline... in the few hours I am offline and not sleeping... I get to explore the city with the boy. I recently moved to Chicago from a very tiny hometown. Chicago has everything, why would anyone want to live anywhere else? When I am not in the city, I am reading or watching movies or creating. I bounce around between mediums but I prefer textiles and hope to have a loom at some point. I want to weave. I also want to weld.
I just recently got a new job working in the local sci-fi/horror/fantasy bookstore, The Stars Our Destination. Only for a single day a week, and only for store credit and killer discounts. No paycheck. I love working there. The owner is quite intellegent and wonderful to work for. Books are a goodness. |
