My very first spider was Avicularia geroldi, a spider that is native to Brazil. This spider looks a lot like A. metallica, but differs from it, because A. geroldi doesn't have the white tips on the hairs. This spider is easy to keep in captivity, mainly because it isn't agressive at all. Keep them in a tank of 12x12x15 inches, and give them the space to build a cocoon where they live in. Keep the humidity very high ( 80-90% ) I bred these spiders in '01/'02, out of the egg-sac came about 120 nymphs... |
