Hello Mr. Krogh,
I write simply to thank you for your support and your dedication to helping me
and everyone who was honored with the Hilltop High School Dollars for Scholars
scholarships. It's been very nice of you to keep us informed of what goes on,
about the scholarship and thank you also for your words of encouragement. I
appreciate it very much. I know that this program will keep making a great
difference in the lives of students like me.
Sincerely thankful,
Karla Lozano

So, with all my heart, I thank you and the many others who made it possible for [our daughter] to attend [the college of her choice] this fall! I can't thank you and the other Dollars-for-Scholars contributors enough for the financial help."

Dollars for Scholars
Date: Sun,
I've been meaning to write another thank you card, and hope to still do so, but with things being so busy, I'll start with this e-mail. I have found that the two major burdens that I have encountered after high school are financial problems and a lack of time. With the generous gift from the dollars for scholars program, my financial burden has been greatly reduced. I've also found that with not having to worry about where this next semester's money is going to be coming from, I can concentrate on other things, and my life is a little less stressful. Thank you again. I meant everything I said in the thank you note the first time, and would be glad to have it sent to any or all of the sponsors. Again, the money will only last for a while, but your confidence and support will be with me literally for the rest of my life. Anytime I feel like I can't do something, I'll be able to remember the support you showed me, and know that people who I've never met, believe in me. Also my education will obviously last a lifetime, which you helped to finance. I'm honored and very grateful for your gift. When I start a career, and have "money to spare", I'll be sure to pass on the gift, and help those in need, just as you helped me when I was (still am) in need.
THANK YOU !!!!
- JOSEPH

Mr. Krogh,
I just wanted to thank you
for the opportunity to earn this scholarship. You already know what my thank
you letter is because of the requirement for the scholarship so I will keep
this short. So far it has been rewarding winning this scholarship. Also, thank
you for keeping us in touch about the newspaper articles and such. That is
awesome.
Thanks again,
Sarah

Hello …
… I wanted to contact each of our
scholarship applicants this year and tell you good luck with your college
studies, and say that I am sorry that we did not raise enough money to help all
of you with scholarships. I certainly wish we could have. It was
difficult to choose, seeing so many qualified applicants, and thinking of those
of you who would be disappointed. During the selection process, I was
inclined toward choosing you, seeing that you were <class officer>, going
to UCSD, and didn't have much going yet in the way of scholarships; however, I
was only one of multiple people involved in the selection process, and in the
give and take of choosing, it just went another way.
However, with your grades, admittance to UCSD, the personal skills that you must have such that you were voted <class officer>, I'm sure that you will go far. My daughter graduated from HHS last year, and is going to UCSD. She just finished her first year. She is finding UCSD challenging. The "A" grades do NOT come quite as easy, so she is contenting herself with mostly B's and some A's. I hope you find it easier than that, but, if not, then hang in there. Remember, 95% of life is showing up and finishing the race, and UCSD is a good alma mater. One of the best. (No, I didn't graduate from there; I am a SDSU alum).
Good luck!
Sincerely yours,

Hello ….
Thank you for applying to
Hilltop High School Dollars for Scholars for a scholarship this year.
I wanted to contact each of
our scholarship applicants this year and tell you good luck with your college
studies, and say that I am sorry that we did not raise enough money to help all
of you with scholarships. I certainly wish we could have. We wanted
to help some students going to Southwestern, but we could only do so much, and
so we were only able to help one Southwestern student this year. It was
difficult to choose, thinking of those of you who would be disappointed.
I wish you luck with your studies at Southwestern and beyond. My wife started at Southwestern. She finished her two year degree and transferred to SDSU, where she earned her teaching credential, and she has enjoyed being an elementary school teacher over the years. I hope that you have equal success and happiness in your life.
Good luck!
Sincerely yours,
