HHSDFS was formed October 2002.  It is the newest Dollars for Scholars chapter in the Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD.)  The objective of HHSDFS is to raise funds and award scholarships for graduating seniors of Hilltop High School.  HHSDFS is a local chapter of California Dollars for Scholars (CADFS) and the national organization Scholarship America (SA.)  Castle Park High School Alumni Dollars for Scholars was formed in 2001.

David Krogh, president of HHSDFS, is proud to announce Fausto Maldonado and Linda Andreoli as 2003 Parent Volunteers of the Year.  Kathy Rahilly was recognized at the Scholarship Assembly as 2003 Director of the Year. Maldonado and Andreoli are employees of Pfizer Corp. of La Jolla and First American Title of San Diego.  Krogh is an employee of Cubic Corp. and Rahilly of SUHSD.

Krogh stated “We appreciate the dozens of donors who made the 2003 Hilltop High School Dollars for Scholars scholarships possible.  We would also like to acknowledge the support of local merchants and businesses whose support was instrumental, including Casa Don Diego, Bob’s on the Bay, Chili’s Grill & Bar, Subway’s (Terra Nova), Office Depot, Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Al’s Barber Shop, Keegans, Firestone Tire & Service Center, and Chula Vista Photo. The generosity of Best Buy Corporation in funding scholarships nationwide is admirable. It was also very nice of the City of Chula Vista to bring National Scholarship Month close to home by proclaiming May 2003 as Scholarship Month in Chula Vista.  The full list of donor individuals and businesses will soon be posted on our website.”

He continued “Our first year results show that ‘Together We Can Make a Difference.’ It is good to know that we have been able to help these students attain their college goals.”
