I saw Lyonnais and just had to have her. I had limited experience with Morabs, only having leased DT Vega for a short while, but I liked what she had showed me about the breed. Since then, I was keeping an eye out for another Morab, and when Lyonnais was offered for sale I jumped at the chance. She was already trained for western pleasure, and had a few shows on her record, and I liked what I saw. Lyonnais competes in Morgan and Arabian shows as a Half-Morgan and Half-Arab, respectively, and has done well against others in her classes. In addition, she competes in other circuits, holding her own in western pleasure and trail classes. Being older, you would certainly expect her to have quieted down, but that is not the case. She is a good children's horse and is great for teaching the beginners, but she still has a lot to teach advanced riders as well. Lyonnais is good at telling the difference, and though she always tries to take care of her rider, she never says no to a good bit of fun. Looking at her out playing in the pasture, or with an experienced rider up, you'd never guess that she is a great western pleasure horse. Though she has moments when she looks like she should be competing saddleseat with her high action and flashy moves, she has always been able to tone it down enough to fit the ideal western pleasure horse while still being able to catch the eye of the judges.
