Signs
- Loss of function is minimal because of the protection of fat padding in the area.

- Pain when sitting

- Poor walking mechanics

- Assessment of range of motion and strength of hip flexion
Contusion of nerve (Nerve root compression)
Mechanisms
- Indirect trauma
- Lateral flexion of the neck as in a brachial plexus injury
Symptoms
- Numbness
- Parathesia
- Hyperflexion or lateral flexion of the neck on the same side as the symptoms may cause pain and/or numbness
Signs
- Tenderness over posterior aspect of the neck
- Decreased sensation in one or more definable dermatomes
- Muscle weakness
- Pain on downward pressure of the head with the chin in the supraclavicular fossa on the same side as the injury
- Decreased reflexed
Special tests
- Distraction test
- Compression test
- Valsalva test
Deltoid contusion (Bruised shoulder)
Signs
- Weakness on shoulder abduction

- Apley"s scratch test
