The engine: This engine is basically an 5 cylinder 2.3 liter engine with 10 valves and 134 horsepowers. The name is 2.3E, NF. This engine is used in cars produced between 08/1990-07/1994

The injectionsystem: This injection system is the last mechanical injection ever made. This type is named KEIII-Jetronic which is improved with advanced electronics and comunicates with the other boxes, as the ignition box to mention one. It uses lambdasensor, knocksensor, preprogrammed maps, learning maps and more. Pretty advanced compared to the slightly older ones.

At the time I got the Audi, I really didnīt have the right nowlege but I managed to do the most things right with some common logic thinking...

To begin with, the car had some problems with the exausts and did not follow the swedish pollution standard. The air filter was dirty so I put some extra money on a sport air filter (55 euro), to get some juice out of the car. That only raised the power around 4 Hp to 140 Hp but it was just a little bit noticeable.

That started some totally wacked experiments to get some horses. Starting with the air intake experiments.

[Air Intake Experiments]

Ok, after that I got tired of air intakes at the moment... Instead I did some calculations to find the most effective tuning part compared Hp/Price. My solution at this point was a perfomance cam.

[The sport cam]
The sport cam gave around 14 Hp. 154 Hp totally then.

It was obvious that the exaustsystem was to thin. I could hear a rough blowing noise from the end pipe when I rev the engine. 2 month after that I bought a cheap Simons sportsystem which I messed with to fit right in place. Cost 250 euro.

The engine sound transformed to the lovely sound of a thursty fake 10cyl. No resonance as in some systems, only pure rumbling sound.

Later I changed the catalysator to a peformance catalysator, and some pipes that still was a little bit to small. The cost was 200 Euro and gave around 4hp (173hp).

At this point...

Ok, only 173hp? No! A lot of torque at the same time of course.
Compared to other cars with similar weight, it seems to be between 165hp - 175hp.
Words of wisdom: If you plan to build something yourself, make shure there isnīt a easier way, like, buying it.
You should choose "the righ car" or "the right engine" from the beginning if you donīt like a huge challenge. Make shure there exists tuning parts for that engine.
An engine with many tuning parts will get greater power, at every new tuning part, than the same engine with less tuning parts, at every new tuning part. With other words: The raise in power with a new tuning part is in procent of the existing power value.

I donīt have the same advantages as turbos but at least my tuning beats the most common family turbo cars. They got around 150-170 HP but thatīs only when the pressure has raised.

NEWS NEWS!!!! LOW ENGINE POWER IS FIXED! I managed to find another solution for the fuel system. The power is now what it should have been long ago! 223hp now!!

At the time Iīm dealing with a messy installation of a Lysholm twin screw supercharger and I believe there will be some interesting results...

The supercharger installation is ready now and waits until summer for evaluation.
