Demolition Derby
Event Rules and Regulations
The High Impact Motor Sports Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction.  In the interest of safety, Drivers and Mechanics are subject to, and must obey, the following rules and regulations which are set up by the promoter and the track where this event is being held.
1.         Each driver must sign and fill out an entry blank, at the registration desk the day  of the show.  Every driver must have their driver's license at the time of registration, NO EXCEPTIONS.  Every driver must have their car Inspected at least one hour prior to show time, or a $10.00 late fee may be imposed.
2.         All drivers must supply their own cars, only one entry per person.  Proof of  ownership may be required on each car entered.
3.         All drivers and / or pit persons 16 or 17 years of age must have a notarized release signed by his or her parent or guardian.  Nobody under 16 years of age can drive or be in pit area.
4.         All persons must sign the release sheet and receive a pit pass to be permitted in the pit area or on the track.  Drivers only to receive a free pit pass upon registration, all other pit passes $10.00.
5.         The track or promoter reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
6.         All Cars will be inspected, so be LEGAL . . .
7.         No drinking  of alcoholic beverages on track, in the emergency vehicle area, or in the pit area.  Any driver or pit person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be immediately disqualified and removed from the grounds.
8.         Any driver or crew member disobeying the rules will cause his or her car to be disqualified.  Non-sportsman like conduct will not be tolerated and will be grounds for disqualification and barring from the future derbies.  Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew members.
9.         Contestants of the High Impact Motor Sports are not employees of the High Impact Motor Sports.  High Impact Motor Sports will not be responsible for any damage caused by a driver's negligence on the track or in the pit area.
10.       The promoter, track owner, or fair associations will not be held responsible for any cars, parts, or personal property before, during, or after the show or left overnight.
Towing and Transporting Cars:
Towing and transporting Demolition Derby cars to and from race locations, must meet highway safety codes (Including Proper light controls, safety chains, tow bars, towing trailers, etc. . .)
The Derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature, with cash prizes going to the winners of each heat and a grand prize going to the winner of the feature.  Decisions of the Officials are FINAL!
Beginners Heat - This will be open to anyone from the ages 16-18 years of age.  Full size cars only for this heat.
            (There must be at least (5) five or more cars entered to run this heat.)
Powder Puff  Heat - This will be open to FEMALES ONLY from the ages of 16 or older.
            (There must be at least (5) five or more cars entered to run this heat.)
Type of Cars:
Any type of car or station wagon.  No trucks, convertibles, jeeps, hearses, or limousines are allowed.  Any type of compact car with (4) four or (6) six cylinder motors.  Maximum wheel base for any compact car is 109 inches.
Preparation of  Car:
1.  Remove all glass.  Includes windshields, side windows, rear windows, head and tail lights.  Rolling windows down is not permitted.
2.  All autos must be free of debris.  No junk tires, wheels, metal parts, broken glass, etc. . . allowed in car.
3.  Chrome molding strips and the bottom portion of rear seats must be removed.  On stations wagons, all rear seats and deck lids must be removed.   All fiberglass or plastic front header panels must be removed.
4.  Any sharp or protruding fins or dangerous objects must be mashed down and/or cut off.
Chassis/Frame
            No welding on frame or frame seams - NO EXCEPTIONS !!!
            Anything found welded on frame or frame seams will be disqualified with NO REFUND.
            DON'T TRY IT . . .  WE'LL FIND IT ! ! !
            Welding on motor mounts and rear end gears are permitted.
Body -No welding on car body or body seams allowed other than doors.  (See Doors Section for details).   Factory rubber body mounts must remain in car with no alterations to the mount.  Example:  no cutting down the mount and no removing the metal sleeve in the mount.  You may run a longer body mount bolt not to exceed 7/16" thick.  You may use a 3" washer by 1/4" thick.   Also, we recommend you use pipe behind the front seat and across the dash.  NO EXTRA BOLTS!!!   Ex.  Bolting roofs, trunks, fenders, hoods, and etc...  You may weld a 3" washer to outer body to run wire or band through.
Radiator support - 1/16" thick by 2" wide only for bottom of radiator support.  Flat steel only.  No angle for radiator support.
Hood - May be wired or banded in (6) six places.  No more than (2) two strands of no. 9 wire per hole.  Sheet metal to sheet metal only.  Two of the six bands may go around the frame.  Officials decide on over use of band or wire.  Hoods must remain on cars.  No welds on hoods.  It is mandatory that an opening be cut in the hood over carburetor, approximately 8" or larger, (Round or Square).  Hood latches must be removed.  You may weld a 3" washer to outer body to run wire/ band through.
Trunks, Tailgates, and Hatches
May be banded or wired in (6) six places.  Two of the six bands may go around the frame.  No more than (2) two strands of no. 9 wire per hole.  Sheet metal to sheet metal only.  Officials decide on over use of band or wire.  Trunks may be banded or wired shut for inspection, BUT a 12 X 12 square hole must be cut in center for inspection.  No welds on OR in trunks or tailgates.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!  Trunks and Hatches are to be fastened down before coming through the inspection line.YOU MAY WELD A 3" WASHER TO OUTER BODY TO RUN WIRE OR BAND THROUGH.
Doors-May be banded or wired in (6) six places.  No more than (2) two strands of no. 9 wire per hole.  Special Numbers are permitted. No profanity will be allowed on any portion of the car.  YOU MAY WELD A 3" WASHER TO OUTER BODY TO RUN WIRE OR BAND THROUGH.  ALL DOORS MAY BE WELDED.  Drivers door can be welded all the way around.  All other doors up to the windows.  You may use 1/4" by 4" wide metal for welding.
Drivers
All drivers must get out of their car for inspections.  In addition, drivers must get out of their car when being inspected after heat  and featrue
Bumpers
            No special bumpers, reinforcements, or trailer hitches permitted.  Fenders and bumper ends may be trimmed to allow for wheel clearance.  Bumper maximum (25) twenty-five inches from the bottom of bumper.  Welding on front and rear bumper shocks is permitted.  No bolting of bumpers to sheet metals.  No bolts protruding from bumpers.
Suspension
    Spring clamps must be loose on one rear side from axle to rear shackle for inspection.
(9) Nine leaf springs with a (1") one inch stagger between each spring.  Must have a working shackle, working rear shocks. 
Exception...  Pre 1973 GM Cars,  do not have to have working shackle. No short shocking;.  3/8" Maximum spring thickness and 2-1/2" wide.  No more than (4) four spring clamps per side.  Max Clamp Width 3" and Bolts no more than 1/2" diameter.  No gussets on spring clamps.   No main over main.  Coil spring cars may be leafed.  When putting leaf springs under a coiled spring car "boxed frame" you may weld a 3" by 1/4" thick wahser on both sides of the frame to run a shackle bolt through.  NO STRAP ACROSS THE TOP OR BOTTOM OF THE FRAME ON '74 or NEWER CARS.
On '73 and old
er - C-Channel frame, you can box in a 3" by 3" area for shackle.
Front Spring Pu
rch - May be home-made and no more than 1/4" thick, 4" wide by 4" long for spring eye.
Spring Shac
kle - May be home-made or factory size.  No more than 3-1/2" wide by 1/4" thick.  MUST BE A WORKING SHACKLE.
Shackle Bolt S
Ize - 5/8" MAX front and rear bolt.  NO UNDERCOATING OR PAINTING OF THE FRAME.
No all thread - spring blocks only between coil springs.  Leaf Springs - flat or arched only, no reversed arched springs.
Tires  -Any type of rubber tire. Tractor tires allowed.
Gas Tank
            Stock gas tanks must be removed from the car.  Only allowable gas tanks are metal boat tanks.  Tanks must be placed in front of rear axle behind the driver's seat and covered with a metal protector.  All gas tanks must be securely fastened to floor and covered.  Gas lines and fittings to fuel tanks must be secured and leak proof.  Only metal or rubber gas lines permitted.  NO PLASTIC LINES ! ! !   Approximately  (4) four gallons of gas is permitted per heat.  Inspection official will give final approval on tanks and fittings.  ABSOLUTELY NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS!!!
            Only one battery.  Any size is allowed.  It must be placed on the floorboard of diver's compartment, securely fastened, and covered.
Windshield Area
            A strong wire or nylon mesh screen is recommended on driver's window and windshield area.
Running
1.         Safety belt, helmet, and goggles/safety glasses/face shields are REQUIRED.
2.         Pants of some kind, no shorts allowed.  YOU WILL NOT RUN IF YOU HAVE SHORTS ON ! ! !
3.         Sand Bagging and Teaming will not be tolerated.
4.         Separation of stuck cars at discretion of officials.  (Safety reasons or Last (2) two cars running).
5.         No deliberate head-on collisions and no deliberate driver's door collisions.
6.         Vehicle must have dependable brakes at all times and boundaries must be observed.
7.         No cars permitted in the competitions area before the heat in which they are to participate.
8.         A vehicle will be disqualified if the driver's door comes open during the heat. 
9.         One minute limit is enforced by the track officials for re-starts and making competitive contact with another car.  Hits must be aggressive.  Simple contact within the time limit does not constitute combat and could be considered sand bagging.
10.       All cars are to be removed from the fairgrounds or race track following the show or they will become the Property of High Impact Motor Sports and the officials will have them removed.  (Unless otherwise specified at driver's meeting, a removal deposit may be required in some areas.)
11.       A $50.00 protest fee is required to contest another car.  Protest must be made by another driver.  No protests allowed after the drivers meeting.
12.       No riding on outside of cars anytime due to insurance regulations.
13.       Boundaries must be observed at all times.  Any cars shoved or driven out of bounds or is on or over a post or tire, may be immediately disqualified if Derby officials feel it is a safety hazard.

             *** ---  Gas tanks must be in the center of bed against the cab.
             *** ---  Truck tailgates can be welded
             *** ---  Truck bed must be welded, banded, or bolted to the cab
             *** ---  4-Wheel drives must have a drive shaft removed
(ADDITIONAL SAFETY REGULATIONS MAY BE IMPOSED DEPENDING ON TRACK.)
            ** TITLES MUST BE TURNED IN FOR ALL CARS LEFT FOR JUNK ! ! ! !
