You STILL might be a band geek when...
-You make beadie buddies and name them after either your band director or your friends in band. (DJ the Turtle!)
-You've lost count of the number of times you've seen "Mr. Holland's Opus" and/or "Drumline".
-You miss class to march in a parade.
-You've never had to pay to get into a football/basketball game.
-Your English teacher is discussing banned books and you think "Band books?".
-You never go anywhere without a deck of cards.
-You're feeling sick at school, but you don't leave until after band.
-Your friends who aren't in band, hang out in the band room before class starts.
-You practice your marching drills and fingerings after taking tests.
-You actually like marching band and you would kill to do it all year long.
-After long periods of not playing, your fingers and hands start to jerk spasmodically.
-Drummers start making sense to you.
-You hear music, you start marking time.
-You'd rather practice than read this list.
-You've ever gone to a music store looking for a CD of someone that plays your instrument.
-You CAN sight-read.
-YOu can sing at least the melodic line of more than twenty peices written exclusively for band.
-You can tell people exactly what a euphonium is... and are disgusted that they didn't know it in the first place.
-Durmers start making sense to you.
-You contatly practice fingerings... without realizing it.
-:You direct the songs on the radio.
-You drum on every surface available.
-You find yourself drumming our cadences on your desk in class.
-You have a repertoire of stores that being, "Well, this den happened back in '00, and this one..."
-Drummers start making a little more sense to you.
-You just feel so naked with our instrument in your hand.
-You know how to fix your intonation problesm.
-You know how to play ten popular stand songs... but don't know the words to them.
-You know when you're playing too loud.
-You obsess over the tempo of pep rally music.
-You pick out instruments from the music in cartoons.
-You practice willingly.
-You sing along to the cadences.
-You subconsciously start practicing with a pencil.
-You tap your foot as soon as you hear a song.
-You try to guess the tempo of your favorite song.
-You subconsciously hum your music.
-Marking time is your favorite form of exercise.
-Walking/Marching on mud no longer makes you slip.
-You keep in step with the person in front of you while walking in a crowd.
-You march eight-to-five down the hallway.
-You roll step on the way to class.
-Dreams of marhcing are constantly in your head.
-The half-time show is the highlight of your weekend.
-Those stupid "band humor" jokes are the funniest things you've heard.
-When people ask you about your social life... you say, "Oh! You mean the (insert your instrument here)!"
-When someone says "hut" you automatically pick your head up.
-You'd rather go to band than your favorite sports game.
-You don't find yourself denying being called a "band geek". In fact, you now think it's a good thing.
-Your parents are proud of your band geek-ness.
-You spend your free time doing homework.
-You stop trying to hide the fact that you're in band.
-You warn little children about the evils of band before it is too late.
-You wonder what life would be like if you weren't in band. Then start crying because you don't know what you would if it actually happened.
-Drummers really start making sense to you.
-You can dance on the bleachers and not fall off.
-You think evening practices should last a half-hour longer.
-You named the band room door.
-You see the band room more than your room.
-You see your band director more than you see your parents.
-You see your section more than you see your family.
-You think the band director is always right. And he is!
-You think you look good in your band uniform
-You wear your band t-shirt in public.
-Everybody fights like family.
-Everyone whats to kill the other football team... and you want to kill the other band.
-You know not only your own part, but everybody else's too!
-You are going to major in music and use your high school band director as a role model
-You search out MIDI files of songs you're playing in band class.
-You think in fractions.
