| The land was in a hush, and the sunset painted it in violet and burgundy hues. The only thing that could be heard was the soft chirping of birds that were settling down to sleep, and the crackle of fire. A young woman stood on an outcrop of rock, looking down into the valley below. Her eyes were focused upon a particular aspect within the valley. Her eyes shone in the light left in the sky, and that of the fire that was blazing below. Her eyes were wild and feral, as if she was more animal than human at the moment. Which was probably the case. Her parched lips moved, and the fast dimming sun lit the bruises and cuts upon her delicate features. She looked untamed, and untouchable, very primitive looking. “I’m glad they are dead. I’m glad for all that I’ve done this day here. No longer shall I have a home. . . My home was gone the moment my “father” murdered my brother. . .” With that said, she spat on the ground at her feet, and walked over to where a pack lay bundled. Everything from her childhood that she wished to keep, those few happy memories that she did have, would always be kept safe with her. She shouldered her bag and her sword, and walked away from the inferno.
