This is definitely dealing with the war to come. It is interesting to note that the West (America) who has spawned this war will ultimately bring about W.W.III. The players as I see it will be a Jihad of the Islamic countries, Russia, and China against America and its allies.

Weapons will be heard fighting in the skies; in the same year the divine are enemies: they will want unjustly to query the holy laws, through lightning and war many believers put to death.

Blood will be spilt in front of the people, which will not go far from the high heavens. But for a long time it will not be heard, the spirit of a single man will bear witness to it.

Here we see after the Russia and American alliance (could that be talking about the establishment of Russia in NATO?) We may be seeing the beginning of the attack against the United States any day now. Needless to say, it will be an attack from the East and I believe Russia will play an important role in all of this. The quatrain says the final victory lies with America. The Vestals could mean vassals. Lending credence that this war is not thought of well in the surrounding countries.
