I learned the time-consuming version of this recipe long ago, but when I took up quilting I was always losing track of the time and having to hurry through, usually scorching it in the process. So I started looking for shortcuts and finally we settled on this.  My brother in law, Lee, usually takes the ingredients for it when he goes south to go deer hunting. It truly is super-quick with no loss of quality and will warm a tired cold body right down to your toes.
Super Quick Clam Chowder

3 cans cond. cream of potatoe soup              2  6-1/2 oz. cans minced clams
                 dash of celery powder
handful of bacon bits
1/2 cup half and half

Drain water from clams, reserving 1/2 cup liquid. Put in pot along with potatoe soup, clams and half and half. Heat slowly, stirring often till heated through. Add celery powder and bacon bits. If needed, thicken with cornstarch to get desired consistency. Serve with hot, crusty rolls and a tossed salad.
