Welcome to Hi Jinx Bio We're a band from Cootamundra, a small town located near Wagga Wagga (South West Slopes Region). Hi Jinx have been playing together as a band for 2 years. They first form together as a band in the middle of 2000. Michael Frost had been taking guitar lessons during this period, then later on Tim Shoard took bass guitar lessons. It wasn't until a few months later that Michael decided to form a band. They had the guitar and the bass, but there was no drummer. That was when they decided to call up Jeffrey Brown. A band was born. The first time they jammed together was in late 2000, Jeffrey decided to join Michael and Tim's guitar lessons and provide them some drum beats. Some of the first songs learned included All The Small Things (Blink 182) and Fly Away (Lenny Kravitz). In 2002, the band's first ever performance took place at the Cootamundra High School Fete. It was quite a nervous experience for them at first, but then really got into it towards the end. The songs that were performed that night were the two songs they first learned. Although it was just their first time performing, they decided to take it to the next step and start competing. Before then they learned more songs Last Resort (Papa Roach), Song 2 (Blur), and their first original song Alone (Hi Jinx). In mid 2001, they received an entry form to compete in the Young Battle Of The Bands. They felt they were ready to take this competition on. Off to Young they went to compete against 15 other bands from Young, Cootamundra, Cowra, and as far as Wagga Wagga, and Orange. By the end of the night, Hi Jinx took home the 1st place prize in their age division, a Stratocaster Fender Electric Guitar worth $600. This was one experience they would never forget. From then on, Hi Jinx changed their music style from Pop and Punk to Rock. During the end of 2001 up to 2002, they have learned more songs and have composed 2 more songs Not Like You and Paranoia. In mid 2002, they decided they needed another guitarist so that Michael could concentrate on soloing, that's when they called up Steve Foster to join their band. He'd been taking gutar lessons every now and then, and shows great improvement over the months. So far, Hi Jinx have performed for their town and the schools that are located around Cootamundra. Many of these performances have been unpaid events, but they hope that one day they will start getting paid for gigs. They are currently working hard together to learn more rock songs and compose some even harder sounding rock songs, and to compete at more competitions. |
