18 Aug 2003 Grape Creek RV Park Westcliffe, CO Big news! We've bought a house in the Valley - our roving days are coming to an end, at least for the present. After being here for over a month, we decided that this was the place to put down some roots. We have a closing date of Sept 30 - lots to do before then. More later... |

23 Aug 2003 Grape Creek RV Park Westcliffe, CO We had to take Cyrano (boy cat) down to Pueblo West today to the vet. He’s been listless and not eating much. Looks like he has some kind of blood parasite (which the vet thinks he must have picked up in Missouri, since it’s incredibly rare in Colorado). His blood cell counts were very low. So now we have two pills to give him morning and evening. O joy! Have you ever tried to pill a cat? If you’re not careful, you could bring back a bloody stump. We’re hoping to get down to the state fair in Pueblo before it ends next weekend—our realtor is showing her Paso Fino horses. And I’ve never been to a state fair before. It seems to be a very big deal in this neck of the woods. But house matters first – Monday we’re trying to get a well test and a septic system inspection done at the new house. I’m going to take some paint chips so we can see how they might look in the great room/kitchen. I’ve landed a temporary job, starting in October, working with Archiva, an archival consulting company, to inventory this year’s accumulation of the US Olympic Committee records – they’re located in Colorado Springs, or ‘the Springs’, as people say around here. |
