HILLSDALE TERRACE COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER
Welcome to our Web Site
Portland, Oregon
Nori Sato used to volunteer his time at our computer center.  He helped the children to find the computer games or activities that they liked to do.

Nori was an exchange student from Saitama, Japan.  He attended Concordia College in North East Portland.  Nori is took social work courses there.

His family lives in Japan.  Nori has two sisters. The elder of his two sisters is named Ryoko and the youngest sister is called Hideko.  Nori's mother's name is Hisako and his father's name is Kenichi.  Nori is the first child in his family and his two sisters are much younger than he is.  Nori has been studying english for more than 6 years. He is getting to be very proficient.
Nori returned to Japan last fall.  We miss him very much.
Derek Clark also helped at our computer center.   Derek is very tall but the kids didn't seem to mind.  Derek is now taking classes at college so that he can become a teacher.  He attends Willamette University.
Derek worked for the Housing Authority of Portland as an Americorp Volunteer and he likes to play sports and enjoys helping the children when they do their music lessons.
Nori is helping a student navigate the software.

Austin Waltz is the volunteer extraordinairre.  Austin decided to help out at the Hillsdale Computer center more than two years ago.  Since then he has logged in an average of 5 hours per week, every week.  Austin works as a 911 operator for the city of Lake Oswego.  He is a native Oregonian and went to high school in Milwalkie.
Austin enjoys working with the computers and has become so involved in computing, that he learned how to build his own system from scratch.  Austin now has a very very fast computer.  He really enjoys working with the children at the Computer Center and they enjoy him just as much.
We were joined with the Mayor and council of the City of Portland in recognising Austin's volunteer contributions to the CLC program at Hillsdale Terrace.  He earned the City of Portland's Volunteer of the Year award for 2001.  Congratulations Austin!
