Hilltop Kennel Puppy Contract

Thank you for adopting your new puppy from Hilltop Kennel Labrador Retrievers.

Every effort has been made to assure that the puppy is healthy at the time of adoption. To keep this guarantee offered to you in force you MUST have your puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian of your choice with in two (2) days from the date of adoption, as noted below. During the initial exam should your veterinarian find the puppy to be in poor heath or detect any physical health problems that would require further veterinary care other then the required vaccinations and /or treatment for any type of parasite or bacteria, you MUST contact us within 36 hours.

In accordance with the above, we also guarantee your puppy for a full seven (7) days from the date of adoption against Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, and Coronavirus.

If in the event the puppy should contract any of the above he/she must be returned to us IMMEDIATELY. The puppy must be accompanied by a legibly written and signed veterinarian report, and in the event the puppy is diagnosed with any of the above diseases, a complete history, a laboratory report, and / or a pathology report from a licensed laboratory. If your puppy is diagnosed with parvo, an IGG and IGM Blood Antibody Tilter Test must be done and the results furnished to us. We will replace the puppy with the first available puppy of equal value. Full credit of the adoption fee can be applied toward a better quality puppy if desired and available.

We guarantee the puppy for life against Hip Dysplasia, DJD Elbow Dysplasia, and PRA. It does not cover non-life threatening or temporary disorders as retinal folds, entropian or ectropian eyelids, un- descended testicles, inguinal or umbilical hernias. We encourage you to spay or neuter the animal.

If the puppy is found to have PRA in it's lifetime CERF results and ERG or current tests used to detect PRA must be furnished before a replacement is given. If the dog is found to have Hip Dysplasia or DJD Elbow Dysplasia by the time it is 26 months it will be replaced with the next available puppy of that quality. If the dog is found after 26 months to have a hip or elbow problem listed above credit in the amount of 25% of the adoption fee will by given towards a replacement of equivalent value. OFA results and Penn-Hip ranking of 30% or less must be furnished before a replacement or credit is given.

In order to maintain the guarantees outlined herein, the puppy/dog must have all annual immunizations done by a dually licensed veterinarian and be supplemented with Nu-Vet Plus using order code 00760 for the first 26 months. If there is a problem found the AKC papers will be signed over to Hilltop and the animal must be spayed/neutered before a replacement is given if the adopting party decides to retain possession of the dog. All puppies adopted as companions are with limited registration.

If you decide you would like to use the animal for conformation showing and/or breeding purposes after is has been adopted as a companion; limited registration will be removed providing the animal is of show/breeding quality. The adopting party agrees to have the breeder(s) listed as a co-owner(s), the appropriate fees to have the dog changed from a companion to a show/breeding prospect, and the agreement for co-ownership is followed.

We will not be responsible for any veterinary expenses or any other expenses incurred by the adopting party. The adopting party has read and understands the puppy guarantee and agrees to use the name HILLTOPS as the first eight letters in the puppy's registered name.

Should the above dog ever need to be re-homed for any reason the owners agrees to return the puppy/dog to Hilltop Kennel. We maintain first right of refusal on every dog/puppy we produce. Hilltop may elect to keep the dog, but will place the dog, if possible. Any fees we have received for the dog, minus any expenses, i.e. shipping, boarding, feed, veterinarian bills, the balance, if any, will be refunded after the dog has been placed.

The adopting party agrees to release and forever discharge Hilltop Kennel, it's owners, successors, and assigns, and all that are in any way directly or indirectly connected with said adoption, from all damages or causes, either at law or equity as a result of the adoption arising herein.
