"Moral Decay" and "Meet the Beat-Alls": Debunking the Mystery?

If you were watching, on February 9th two brand new episodes of The Powerpuff Girls appeared.  To my great joy, both of these were Him episodes, but to my disappointment, they seemed to be a new kind of Him episode.

To begin with, in "Moral Decay" Him was only seen sitting in the doctor's office with a few teeth missing, thanks to Buttercup.  Did he have any lines? No.  Instead, he was grouped in with the rest of the scum of Townsville.

Also, the fact that he had teeth missing suggested that Buttercup was able to beat him up physically. (Is there another way to lose teeth?) Now, in the context of all the violence that happens in the show, this is not exactly a big deal.  However, if you think carefully about all the previous episodes Him has appeared in, you realize that this is the first time they've gotten to him.

In Octi-Evil, they escaped from a big Octi and Him turned into a little fireball.

In Tough Love, after they finished beating up all their loved ones, he was lounging in the air and told them he never did repeat performances.  Then he disappeared--they never laid a fingerless hand on him.

In Telephonies, he saves the day (and proves himself quite capable of kicking the Gangrene Gang's collective butt).

In Birthday Bash, he takes over everyone's mind and gives them all tooth decay.

And in Speed Demon, he wins.

The only other bit part he has (besides Moral Decay) is in "Bought and Scold", where he is evilly lounging in the air, introduced as one of Townsville's worst villains. (Author's note: even though it was about 2 seconds long, it was still enough time for me to fall off of the couch!) However, with this common treatment of Him in "Moral Decay", it led me to wonder: is Him going to become little better than a common villain?

After "Moral Decay" came "Meet the Beat-Alls", which, all in all, is one of the best episodes yet.  However, it also continued my newfound Him dilemma.  In the beginning of the episode, Him is at the Powerpuff Girls' house... arguing with the lesser villains of Townsville. (Mojo Jojo, Princess, and Fuzzy Lumpkins. I consider them lesser, anyway. I suppose I'm assuming anyone visiting a Him shrine would, too.) The last time Him was involved with them, Mojo called him "sir". (Telephonies) This time, Mojo is (somehow) the leader of the group--when he quits to go off with Moko Jono, the group falls apart.  Afterwards, the Powerpuff Girls beat up the remaining members... and Him ends up on the bottom of a pile of villainy in the Townsville jail.  And I almost cried.

Also, in this episode Him suddenly seems to resort to physical violence.  Before, he has always A) either gotten someone else to do it, or B) how exactly it was done is unclear.  The only exception to this is when he beats up the Gangrene Gang in Telephonies.  And then, he's winning.  However, he suddenly seems to be resorting to physical violence here, although his laser-beam-from-the-mouth really IS very cool.  (there was a name for it. does anyone remember it? i can't make my VCR work at the moment, and didn't get the eps on tape... hopefully this should change soon.)  And then he is beaten up.

The basic point of this blip is this--is Him becoming a new Mojo Jojo? Mojo is in (about) 50% of the episodes, and is frequently beaten up and generally made a mockery of.  This is not to say i don't love Mojo, but I certainly don't want to see Him go his way.  Half of his allure is his untouchable power, thirty percent more his mystery. (And yes, the other 20% is split between the voice and the fluffy pink stuff.) These two episodes led me to wonder... is he losing his power and mystery? Perhaps I'm making mountains out of molehills.  I certainly hope so.
