WHAT I USED TO DO
I started out in trucking when it was basically not the thing for women to be doing.  I was determined and when the companies would not take a chance on me I purchased my own truck and went on the road.  I was determined to make it as a driver.........and I had quite a few adventures along the way.
Taking a Break
Unloading at the Seaport
It used to be an adventure in itself to just get a shower and clean up since the truckstops were not set up for anything but male drivers,  The attendents at the fuel stops used to guard the door for me so that I could shower and change clothes.  Otherwise I would have to rent a motel room, which could get quite expensive for someone on a limited budget
I watched the industry make quite a change as more and more women drivers came along, and the guys started bringing their wives with them.
Not to mention the problems I used to have at the warehouses as it just wasn't the thing for women to be in a "man's" world so to speak!!!.
I would have to say that the greatest thing that happened to me in the 20 years I spent as an over the road driver was that I met my hubby and we were married in September of 1982.  He was a driver also, and we teamed it and had an extended honeymoon until my health failed me in 1994.
We drove team for a transport company for several years and then had our own rig for a while.  That one was a pretty truck, but we drove it for the glory of having it....the economy crunch hit us and we sold it when my health failed.
My hubby continued to drive for a transport company until his health failed him in October of 1998.
We are both home now and it has been quite an adjustment for us....but we are both cancer survivors and even though I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, we consider ourselves lucky.....and blessed that the Heavenly Father has given us a chance to go on with our lives and be an inspiration to others.
Our motto is" HAVE FAITH AND NEVER GIVE NO MATTER WHAT TYPE OF OBSTACLES ARE PLACED IN YOUR PATH."
Since my hubby is retired now and is well again, he helps me around the place with the heavier chores and all the "honey-dos" that seem to crop up like  mushrooms in he Spring.  I couldn't get along with- out him.  I love him dearly, and besides---------------

As for me, I have a lot of varied interests, including writing poetry and raising birds for the therapy they provide for me.  There is more about them on my page titled
