Born in Vancouver Canada, Lex Shootah aka Katagi moved to Japan in 1998, where he founded the Japanese hip-hop collective, muragumo. The hip-hop collective put out a few singles that were well recieved among the Japanese hip-hop community. Lex disbanded muragumo to puruse a solo career in October 2003.
