Berry-Picking!

Place: Whittamore's Berry Farm

Date: 12th of July, 2001

Everyone loves to eat berries, especially fresh Strawberries and Raspberries, but eating them is only half the fun, nothing is more enjoyable than picking your own berries right off the bush and snacking on a few while you fill your basket. I've always wanted to go berry picking, but it wasn't until recently, when Cheryl and I were driving though the countryside that we noticed a berry farm along the way, we stopped and picked a couple buckets of delicious strawberries. It was so much fun that we planned to come back again with the kids, when Raspberry season started the next week.

On the very day after our exams, we packed Rachel, Adam, and Craigy into the car, before driving off to Milliken Park to fly kites and wait for Jen and her family to join us. Jen brought along her Mom, her Aunt from Hong Kong, and her two little cousins for the trip. After we all met up and had some more fun with the kites, we drove out unto Steeles Ave, until we came to Whittamore's Berry Farm.

The kids instantly dove into the bushes after getting their baskets. I gotta say, they make great harvesters!. After gathering two baskets of Raspberries (which is a whole lot!), we moved on to the Snow peas patch so that Jen's family could pick peas. Then it was off to the Farm House and Market to buy fresh fruit pastries and preserves before going back home.

Goofy picture #1

Adam tries to escape the goofy group picture by jumping into the nearest Raspberry bush...thorns and all = )

Monkeys love berries too

Adam puts on his best monkey impression as the kids ham it up for Cheryl and the camera.

Smorf-Berries?

Craigy bawls for water after swallowing a spicy berry, Rachel screws up her face after tasting a sour berry, and Adam appears to have a running belly after eating a rotten berry = )

Wascally Wabbits

Adam intently rummages through the bushes for those elusive peas, while Rachel just goofs off.
