Honda N360

Back at the end of 2001 we bought a wee green Honda N360, in very good condition it was to. We were lucky enough when we got this one to get another for nothing and this is maybe a future restoration project, or a parts and bits car. getting both cars for NZ$600.00 was a great deal. The Green 360 is a every day runner and very economical on it to. Averaging about 44 mpg on about town driving. having done  almost 100,000 miles and little done to the car, that cannot be to bad.

I have had some rust repaired in the drivers door when I got it. Brakes have been bled and adjusted, and rings and pistons have been replaced after one got a hole in it and the rings broke @ 97265 miles. And just recently the fan housing bearing seized so replaced with e spare housing.

The Body requires a few small imperfections to be worked on, like scratches and dents, Other wise she is in good nick as I have said.

Since Buying the car, I have kept a record of fuel economy to track the vehicles performance. It was interesting to see the changes in economy leading up to the blown piston and valve.

The following work has been done on the vehicle to keep it road worthy

  1. A piece of rust cut and a new plate welded into lower front side Right side door.
  2. Replaced Pistons and rings and everything above with second hand unit (From spare car)
  3. Carb fouling up plugs, cleaned up and reset, leaking fuel from bowl, made some adjustments to unit.
  4. Oil leak from cam shaft seal and  points end, (What a nightmare finding the correct sized unit) Replaced and reset.
  5. Cleaned up engine of leaking oil.
  6. Adjusted clutch cable.
  7. Brake peddle needs accesive pressure to brake. Flushed (you do not want to have seen the crap that came out!!!), checked all drums, seals. Acquired replacement brake unit to fit very soon.
  8. Some slight smoking from exhaust, bought a high quality engine oil for older cars, (Need to locate oil filter, Need to go fossil hunting!! The only way I might find a new one!) No more smoke!!
  9. Wire broke to only one strand from voltage regulator to starter generator, draining battery and causing engine failure while Vanessa was out on the motor way. Took a while to trouble shoot, but repaired and car goes better than ever, amazing what a small problem can do to performance.

The car has now done in excess of   101968 miles, and is still running strong.

At Diamond Harbor Christchurch,
A great place for a summer picnic.

On the Summit Road of Banks
Peninsula, A nice Hill drive, certainly a slow drive with 360 cc under the bonnet.
But who is really in a hurry??
Looking down into Christchurch, A sea
haze blocks much of the view. Vanessa, my wife, who was 7 months pregnant, taking in the view.
Another trip into the hills.
this time looking out into Lytleton Harbor, The major shipping port for Canterbury (Christchurch) Awesome vistas in this area.
Vanessa - still pregnant -  enjoying the view toward Godley Head, on the Southern side of Lytleton
Harbor out from Diamond Harbor.
This drive was beautiful, a summers day,
windows down cruzin the shingle roads to almost nowhere.
