WHY DO YOU COME TO ME?

Translated from Armenian by Daniel Janoyan
Glendale, August 21, 1986

Why do you come to me?
You are a smiling girl and very pretty,
While I am a dull boy and very lonely,
Why do you come to me?
Why do you love me,
When your heart shivers
From my very words?
You are a smiling girl and very pretty,
While I am often sad and crying,
Why do you come to me?

Why do you come to me?
You are a girl pleasure longing,
While I am a boy pleasure avoiding.
When has your heart ever kept smiling
While listening to my own singing?
You are a girl pleasure longing,
While your heart hurts and keeps crying
When you are very close to me.
Why do you come to me?

Why do you come to me?
You are a girl loving everybody,
While I am dull, running away from everybody.
Who has caressed and hugged me lovingly?
Who has not been hurt by my frank words?
You are a girl loving everybody.
Your heart is full of love for everybody.
Why do you come to me?

Why do you come to me?
You are a smiling girl and very pretty
While I am a dull boy and very lonely.
For me your heart is a night never ending
That annoys me peacefully.
You are a smiling girl and very pretty,
While I am a boy full of troubles.
Why do you come to me?
