'Understanding' makes Winnie being known by many people. Her new song 'Scent' also brings her success. Basically, if you give her good song, she will sing well for you. They style of 'Scent' is very suitable for her, with brilliant and precise lyrics. There's a rumor that Winnie passed winding road before. With her talented 'grumbling' voice, making this album with great success after 'Understanding'.

香港Recruit雜評碟評
一首《領悟》，令浮沉多年的辛曉琪，忽然成為風頭躉。新歌《味道》能否有相當的承接力？從寶島樂迷的反應看來，她又勝了一仗。 基本上，辛曉琪是那種只要是好歌，就能交足功課的歌手。《味道》的痴怨情懷，實在開正了她的歌路，何況歌詞確是寫得好，副歌短短四句「想念你的笑——和你身上的味道」就已經點出題旨，難怪香港亦開始熱起來了。 聽聞曉琪愛情路上歷盡風霜，再加之其天生的一副「怨婦腔」，最適合唱一些曾經滄海、痴痴地等的悲歌。《走過》、《堆積》及《淚滴》都有動人的本錢，至於分別再唱Dick Lee《追》及Beyond《情人》的兩首作品，《愛過以後》與《戒痕》更見曉琪的功力所在，絕不遜色於原裝正版。 辛曉琪會不會是第二個陳淑樺？答案留待聽過此碟的你自行判斷。
Text: Ka-wei Cheung Perhaps James Wong is the first Hong Kong people to 'dig out' Winnie. Two years ago she invited her to sing one of the tracks in movie 'Green Snake' (song 'Mo Fu Lok Ka'). Last year Jonathan Lee wrote 'Understanding' and made her popular in South-east Asia. Winnie, a bit like the saying 'great vessels take years to produce'. In terms of appearance, she is not beautiful. But her voice is her strength, which is tenderness, emotional with deep feeling.
Music: Good Ten songs are good with one defect, i.e. there are some cover-versions, not totally new songs.
Lyrics: Great Mandarin lyrics is better than Cantonese lyrics, no matter in terms of smoothness or literature value. 'Scent' is the most touching song in the album.
Arrangement: Average Comfortable, and nothing else. You can say the arrangement is not creative, not special. On the other hand, you can also say that the theme of the album limits the style of the arrangement.
Performance: Good 'Scent' embeds hidden bitterness but Winnie can't sing properly. For the song 'The Flower In The Wind', she sings with too many sad feeling. On the other hand, 'Going Through' and 'Daybreak' is good.
Cover Design: Good Rock Records provides good quality on packaging. Unfortunately the cameraman didn't show out the most beautiful parts of Winnie.

題目：辛曉琪「味道」 黃霑有可能是全香港第一個「發掘」辛曉琪的人，兩年前霑叔在徐克作品「青蛇」電影原聲中找她唱《莫呼洛迦》，然後去年李宗盛作了首《領悟》給她，結果紅遍東南亞，可謂大器晚成。論外表，辛曉琪不算特別，講女人味不及鄧麗君、蔡琴，論貌美不如陳淑樺，當然，辛小姐歌聲始終有一定實力，具備鄧的溫柔、蔡的濃情、陳的感性。《領悟》已經成功了，到底《味道》能否再下一城？還待各位洗耳恭聽。
音樂水準：良 論旋律，無可否認全碟十首曲都順耳，遺憾是咱家媒界踏出推動百分百原創之際，此碟卻改編了家駒遺作《情人》為《戒痕》，改編了Dick Lee那首電影《金枝玉葉》主題曲《追》成《愛過以後》。略扣分，由「優」變「良」。
歌詞水準：優 即使偏見、偏愛也好，國語詞的流暢程度及「文學」價值始終較云云廣東詞為高，而最重要的是，《味道》大碟在歌詞的概念上非常出色；在統一之餘不會牽強，主題曲《味道》會是最touching的一首。
編曲水準：常 舒服。如此而已。要加以批評的話，可以有兩種一般說法：（一）沒有新鮮感、沒有刺激性、沒有創意等，平均得很。（二）基於概念所謂或所限，毋容有啥起落高低的大變化。
演繹水準：良 某程度上，前作《領悟》略嫌煽情，既「領悟」又何來激動嘛！而《味道》主題上所需的淡淡幽怨，辛曉琪亦未能絕對的收放自如，例如《風中的花》只需用平常心唱就夠，卻過分傷感了。不過尚有《走過》、《曙光》等，恰到好處。
封套設計：良 絕對令消費者欲罷不能！包裝、用料，均能為滾石做到「品質保證」。值得很多既想玩花巧又製作馬虎的本港所謂「精裝版」CD借鏡。遺憾是攝影師未能把辛曉琪最美麗的一面好好發揮。
總評 由包裝到宣傳都祈求捧一個「周華健」女裝版出來，所指的是重視程度而非形象上。而奢望中亦很聰明地做到不帶《領悟》的影子，當然我們不知是力不從心（似《領悟》的佳作可遇不可求），還是刻意經營，總之出來的效果令人滿意就是了。
