A brief history of the development of Christian activities in St. Paul’s College (1851-2001)

Isaac Chun Hai FUNG

Summary

Christian activities existed in St. Paul’s College, Hong Kong, as early as its very foundation. Through the years, different forms of Christian activities flourished among its student body. This article covers the theological training in the Training College in 1900s, YMCA in 1929 and the development of the Christian Union since 1950. The history of the Christian Union is divided into six parts: 1950s, 1960s, 1970-76, 1976-85, 1985-93 and 1993-2001.

A shortened version of this article was published as a chapter in our college history book From Devotion to Diversity (Hong Kong: St. Paul’s College Alumni Association, 2001) as part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of our Alma Mater organised by the Alumni Association in 2001.
