The Jellicle Fathers
“Munku, Lonzo, we have something like to talk with you.” Demeter and Cassandra stand before the toms who are talking with the Old Deuteronomy.
“I’m sorry, Dem. Not right now. We are talking about the Peks and the Pollicals.” Munkustrap nuzzled his mate gently and prepare to back his work.
“Yes, may be you can wait me at home.” Alonzo also kissed Cassandra lightly. “I’ll finished this and back at once.”
“Say, seems you are talking something about the business of Jellicles?” Demeter looked at the leaders playfully.
“I should say yes, dear. And that’s very important.” Munkustrap become serious on his face.
“If there will have some new kittens in the Junkyard, is it be a serious problem that gentlemen will interested in?” Demeter started to walk away.
“Wait, what did you just said?” Munkustrap stopped her. “What’s the meaning of some new kittens? Is someone find a new kitten in somewhere?”
“No.” Demeter said.
“Is a lost kitten being in here?” Alonzo asked.
“No.” Cassandra smiled.
“Come on, tell us. What’s happen?” Munkustrap don’t want to spend too much time on the guess game with the queens.
“Someone will become father.” Demeter looked at Munkustrap with a sweet smile.
“Really? That’s great. Who?” Munkustrap still didn’t notice his mate hints.
“You.” Demeter said. And then a crash sound comes from the top of the tire.
“Be careful, Munku.” Alonzo jumps down beside his friend.
“What did you said, dear? I’m being a father?” Munkustrap don’t mind about the fall. He just wants to make sure Demeter’s words.
“Yes. I have kittens. Jennyanydots told me a minutes before.” Demeter nuzzled his cheek.
“Congratulation, Munku!” Alonzo patted his friend shoulder.
“And you, Lonzo.” Cassandra whispered.
“What?” Alonzo can’t catch up her words and to stand for a while.
“You, Alonzo, will become a father, too.” Cassandra licked his face lovely.
“You mean, both of you are pregnant in the same time?” Alonzo and Munkustrap asked together.
“Yup.” Cassandra and Demeter answered together.
“Heaviside!” Both the toms can’t find other words already.
“Munku? Alonzo? Hello~~~~~??” Rum Tum Tugger waved his paw before his friends. “Are you two still living?”
“Stop that, Tugger? What’s happened?” Alonzo hissed to him. Of course, wouldn’t show his teeth and claws up.
“That’s my question. What’s happen to your guys? Both of you haven’t speak during this morning!” Rum Tum Tugger feel pretty bored with two cats who just sighed.
“We are being father.” Munkustrap sighed again.
“Well, we all know that. That’s a good news I think.” Rum Tum Tugger pleased that this black and gray tabby finally speaks something.
“Everybody know already?” Alonzo surprised.
“Yup. Jenny told Jelly, Asparagus Jr. and Skimble. Dem told Bomb and then she told me. And I told Tumble and Misto. I think the girls will get the news from their mothers or little boyfriends.”
“That’s great!” Munkustrap and Alonzo seem mad.
“What? Isn’t good news that must let every Jellicles know? Dem and Cass are also very excited.” Rum Tum Tugger confused.
“Are they?” Two of them sighed again.
“Hey, why are you two always sighing today? Or you don’t want to be father?” Rum Tum Tugger asked. “I know! Both of you are the leaders of the Jellicles, so that you don’t want the kittens just run around you and said ‘Papa, I want play!’ or something. Right?”
“No. I like kittens. They are sweet and cute. And that will be good if I can have a family like this……” Alonzo lay on the rubber tire. “I just still can’t believe that.”
“And you also? Munku?” Rum Tum Tugger asked to tabby who sit at the top of the junk. He didn’t answer, just nodded his head.
“Seems that’s so trouble to become a father.” Rum Tum Tugger scratched his head.
“ ’m totally agree.” Someone said above them.
“Is you, Mungo.” Rum Tum Tugger waved to him. “Get down and have a sit.”
“Thanks.” Mungojerrie jumped down from the car.
“So why did you said you are totally agree about the trouble of father……” Before Rum Tum Tugger can finish his sentence, Mungojerrie really have a doubted sighed.
“Teazer had kittens.” Mungojerrie said suddenly.
“What?” All the others yelled.
“Teazer…had kittens……” he seems not so very excited.
“Then I must tell the others at once.” Rum Tum Tugger said and began to stand up. When he look around, any of his friend are interested to go with him.
“Why all your guys are began to sighed and unhappy after know they are being father?” Rum Tum Tugger sit down again.
“Tugger, you will never know if you are not being a father.” Munkustrap said. “I’ve introduced a few kittens in the tribe, and also seen serves queens give life to kittens. But when to things fall on your head, the feeling is totally different.”
“Yup.” Alonzo nodded. “Just take a minute, and then you can feel that there are some more responsibly over your shoulder.’
“And you’ll became loss inside the questions and worried.” Mungojerrie continued the sentences.
“May be I needed to plan about my future.” Rum Tum Tugger said to himself.
“Are you ok, dear?” Munkustrap holds Demeter’s paw.
“Yes. May be you can go to the Junkyard first. They are waiting for you.” Demeter smiles to her lover.
“How can I leave you alone at here?” Munkustrap nuzzled her. “If a Pollical or Macavity see you, it will be too danger.”
“Ok. And thank you, Munk.” Demeter kissed him.
“Hi, Munku, Dem.” It is Alonzo and Cassandra.
“Oh, hi, Cass. Lonzo.” Demeter said and started to exchange the news with Cassandra.
“So she looks good.” Alonzo looks at the queens talking about their kittens.
“Hey…” Munkustrap feel a little loss.
“May be we can also exchange something about be a father.” Alonzo pats his friend.
“That’s funny, Alonzo.” Munkustrap seems not so interested in this.
“Say, Pounci come to me this morning and said the Peks are always around the Junkyard.” Alonzo started to report the business.
“That will be a bit danger to the kittens. May be we needed to tell their parents watch this out.” Munkustrap started on his work. It can make him calm down a bit.
“Good morning, Munkustrap, Alonzo, Demeter, Cassandra.” Mistoffelees already sit in the Junkyard.
“Good morning, Mito. Hello, girls.” Everybody say hello with his or her friends.
“So, I know I was late, but let me say congratulation to you two.” Mistoffelees smiles shyly.
“Thank you, Misto.” Munkustrap smiles back.
Victoria and Jemima started to talk with the future mothers. “They must be very cute.” Victoria watched Demeter’s stomach.
“I hope so.” Demeter seems very happy. “I just want they will be health and happy. That’s all I want.”
“It so great to become a mother, isn’t it?” Victoria asked.
“Yes. Especially the father of the kittens is the tom you love most.” Cassandra said and looks to Alonzo, who are talking about the Peks with Munkustrap and Mistoffelees.
“ ‘ello, everyone!” Someone is laughing from the entry of the Junkyard.
“Hey, Teazer, do~~~~~~~ be careful.” Mungojerrie stops his mate run to the others.
“That’s ok, Jerrie. ’m fine.” Rumpleteazer gives him a kiss.
“Hello, Rumple. Good morning, Mungo.” The toms say hi and let Mungojerrie join into their talk.
“We are talking about the Peks are always walk around the Junkyard.” Munkustrap give an idea to the new comer. “And now we like to find Jenny and Jelly to tell them about that.”
“I saw Jenny in her home when I came.” Mungojerrie said.
“I don’t think you can see her home on your way from Victoria Grove to here…” Munkustrap questions.
“Actually I’m going to visit her.” Mungojerrie said.
“And may be can get something like some cream or break some vases.” Mistoffelees laughs.
“You got my mind, Misto.” Mungojerrie grins.
“So, Misto, I’d like you to go to talk with Jenny and Jelly, tell them they need to spend more attention about the kittens. Is that clear?” Munkustrap said.
“I’ll do that this evening.” Mistoffelees nodded.
“Great. And now, kittens!” Munkustrap calls the kittens line up. There are Tumblebrutus, Prouncival, Plato, Jemima, Etcetera, Electra and Victoria. “I want all of you to take care yourself and your friends when you come to Junkyard. And when you meet a Pek or Pollicles or something like that, you must call for help.”
“HELP!!” Someone call out of the Junkyard.
“Just like this……What?” Munkustrap try to find out who is it.
“It is Admetus!” Mistoffelees looks up to the air. “And Macavity!”
“MACAVITY!!” Demeter cried frighten.
"It will be ok. I promise.” Munkustrap whispered in her ears to comfort her. And then put her between Bombalurina’s arms. “Wait for me, please.”
“And please, do be careful.” Demeter said worried and sent the toms by sight. Suddenly, she feels extremely painful.
“Are you ok dear?” Bombalurina could see her friend not very well.
“I…I think…the kittens are……on their way……” Demeter tries her best to say in completed sentences.
“Quick! Victoria, go to get your mother. We need Jenny and Jelly here!” Bombalurina tried to direct the kittens which the only felines at beside. “Tumble, try your best to get Munku here.”
“No,” Demeter stops the brown and white kitten. “No need…to let the toms know……they had something……important……”
When Jennyanydots and Jellylorum arrived, they notices the kittens of Cassandra’s are seem to be born in the same time.
“Heaviside! Come on Jelly, you take care of Casss, and I’ll do Demi.” Jennyanydots began command the frantic felines. “Jemi, Elec, Etce, Vicky, go to find some clean and dry blanket. Bomby, help me to move them to their lair. Lucky their lairs are very close. Where are the guys?”
“They are fighting with the Hidden Paw.” Pouncival answered. Even he don’t know what’s going on (he just a kitten, right?), but he also could sense the tension of the adult.
“What?” Jennyanydots wide her eyes. “You mean Munku and Alonzo both are no here?”
“Yes, even Misto and Tugger and Mungo. Seems it is Admetus have something trouble.” Pouncival pointed to the outside of the Junkyard.
“Ever Lasting Cat, please bless them will be right back.” Jennyanydots prays.
“HELP!!” Admetus shrinks at the corner and cried.
“Clam down, boy. I just want to talk with you.” Macavity said with an evilly smile.
“Then why you show up your claws?” Admetus hissed.
“Because they also want to talk with your throat.” Macavity seems him playfully.
“Leave him alone!” Munkustrap and the others arrived.
“Munkustrap, why you always appear when I try to have something fun.” Macavity yelled.
“Because you are not allowed to have fun with a kittens life!” Munkustrap jumps down between Admetus and Macavity. “Your enemy is I. I would never let you to hurt any Jellicle Cats.”
“Fussy!” Macavity hisses and try to jump on Munkustrap’s back.
“Misto, sent him back to the Junkyard first!” Before Munkustrap could finish his words, he feels there a pain on his back.
“Pay the attention when you are in fight, man!” Macavity licks his paws.
“Shut up.” Munkustrap is really angry. He averts the attack of Macavity, and leaves a long cut at his face. Macavity yells in pain. Before Munkustrap could start another attack, Macavity suddenly jump to Alonzo, who is always at the side to prepare help Munkustrap during the fight.
“Lonzo, watch out!” Munkustrap warning.
“Ooch!” There’s already have a deep cut on the black and white spots tom’s arm.
Suddenly a light ball explosions between them.
“Munku, Lonzo, the chance!” Mistoffelees shouted. Munkustrap and Alonzo flop on Macavity together.
“So we got you!” When Tugger looks under the toms, there’s empty – Macavity’s not there.
“We will meet again, Munkustrap, Alonzo, Mistoffelees, Rum Tum Tugger, Mungojerrie……” the sound be disappear after the words.
“He’s already gone.” Mistoffelees said and start to check up the wounds of his friends. “Are you guys ok?”
“I’m fine, but seems Alonzo is not very good…” Munkustrap sees Alonzo couldn’t stand up.
“Alonzo, are you ok?” Rum Tum Tugger asked.
“Yea…” Alonzo try to support himself by the hurting arm, but fail.
“Seems your arm had broken.” Mistoffelees give a look to him. “May be I can send you to Skimbleshanks, his pet may be help you.”
“Thanks, Misto.” Alonzo finally could stand up with the help of Rum Tum Tugger.
“My pressure.’ Mistoffelees nodded politely. Then he looks up to the air.
“What’s up?” Munkustrap looks at him serious with a bit of worry: if a Pek or Pollicle is harming a Jellicles, they are both too tied to fight with the dogs.
“A news form Corico.” Mistoffelees smiles. “Munku, Lonzo, I suggest you two are better go back to the Junkyard as soon as possible.”
“Why? Is there something wrong?” They become tension.
“No, but both of you are already be a father…” Before Mistoffelees could finish his sentences, Munkustrap already start running back.
“And also, Mungo, Rumple’s kittens are on their way…” The organ and black tom already disappears.
“Quick, Tugger, please sent me back.” Alonzo said.
“Would you like me to try to use a magic on you?” Mistoffelees ask him playfully.
“Why not?! Please, sent me to Cass. I can’t stand for one more minute!”
“Clam down, Lonzo. I’ll do my best.” Mistoffelees said and began start his magical words.
“Dem!” Munkustrap rushes into the lair, which he shares with Demeter.
“Munku, you’ve back!” Demeter lies on the blanket and cleans the kittens.
“Of course I’m back, I’ve promise you, remember?” Munkustrap kisses the new mother. She looks a little weak, and the cheeks are little pure, but she looks really beautiful.
Jennyanydots steps on. “There are three kittens：two toms and a female. Congratulation, Munku. Congratulation, Demi.” She then gets out of the box.
“Thank you, Dem.” Munku kisses her again.
“You’ve got a cut!” Demeter saw the wound on Munkustrap’s back.
“That’s just a minor cut. Never mind that.” Munkustrap whispered. “Now the most important thing is what would you like to name our kittens?”
“I still not decided. You know, the naming of cats, is a difficult matter.” Demeter nuzzled her lover.
“May be Old Deuteronomy will give us some good advice.”
“How about Cass? Did she ok? Did Lonzo is ok?” Demeter started to worry about her friends.
“Hello? Can we come in?” Rum Tum Tugger, Bombalurina, Mistoffelees and Victoria ask outside the box.
“Sure.” Munkustrap let them in.
“Congratulation, Munku, Demi.” They said.
“Thank you.” Munkustrap smiles. “Did anyone of you get the news about Lonzo and Cass?”
“Yea, Cass had give a birth to four kittens. Two males and two females.” Mistoffelees said. “Plus, just a while a ago, Mungo is also become the father of two toms and a female.”
“That means we have ten new kittens in the same day?” Munkustrap’s eyes become wide.
“That’s too great, Munk.” Demeter smiles happily.
“Yea……” Munkustrap started into a deeply thought.
One month later, there is a special meeting in the Junkyard.
“Kittens, lines up!” Jemima shouted.
“Yes, Jemi!” Ten kittens started to line before the queen.
“Listen up. Later, when Old Deuteronomy appear, he shall start to decided would each of you are able to be a Jellicle……” Before Jemima could finish, the lines already mass up.
“Jemi, busy?” Victoria and Mistoffelees step into the Junkyard.
“Yup. And pretty tired.” Jemima falls down.
“Misto!!!!” the kittens find the magical cat, and started cried. “Can you play a magic for us? We want to see the rainbow.”
“Ok, ok. Ladies and gentlemen, why don’t we finished the rehearsal first, and when we have time, I’ll show you some new trick.”
“GREAT!!” The kittens shouted and then go the have the practices.
“They look so active.” Victoria smiles.
“Right.” Mistoffelees shake his head so that he could stop the headache.
“How would it be nice to have a family?” Victoria said and goes to give some advice about the dance of the kittens.
“Then can you be my mate?” Mistoffelees stopped her. “I’ll give you a family.”
Victoria stands for a while. When she turns around again, she nuzzled against Mistoffelees’ chest.
“I always like to be.”
