This lesson we started to have an act. We were first given a story which is about a mouse and her tail. We then read the story and decided how to present the story. Is this a happy ending or a bad ending? What did we want the story to be like?
We would be an actor or a director. And this time I was lucky that I could be a director. This was my first time to be a director though I don’t think I was.
Before this act I have been involved in school drama club. I saw some people to be director. There were always two directors for a drama. They were very strict. Even I acted as stranger A or B and no dialogue they needed me to walk for many times and for various ways. I got tired and was nearly to die I still walked for the directors. But they still could not determine which position I walked was better. I hated them.
However, now I know why they needed me to walk for many times. Rehearsal and setting are very important. If you have a good idea but you can’t express it to the audience everything is invalid. I also find that the communication between the actor and the director is not easy. If what the actors do is not same as what the director say. At this moment what can a director do? Scold at the actor or do nothing? And in my case I could do nothing as the act already started. Maybe, I hope, next time I will be a good director.
