The night before last, two episodes of TVB's JADE SOLID GOLD was taped at TVB Studios. After the first taping session with guests Ruby Lin (Lam Sum-Yu), Dicky Cheung Wai-Kin, and William So Wing-Hong among others concluded, the second session with guests Joey Yung Tso-Yi, Eason Chan Yik-Shun, Miriam Yeung Chin-Wah and Daniel Chan Hiu-Tung began. The foursome was on the show to promote their new movie FEEL 100% II. During the taping both Joey Yung and Miriam Yeung "kissed" their respective counterparts Eason Chan and Daniel Chan while playing a game. Afterwards, Miriam Yeung commented to the crowd: "I'm scared! I'm not used to that at all. I'm still shaking a little bit. It's not that I don't want to play anymore. It's just that you could call that my first on screen kiss. I think that should be enough to publicize the movie! The movie is just as good as that. I hope you guys give me some face and show me a little sympathy and go see the movie. I've really done my best for it!"

While Yeung was a bit non-plussed at having kissed Daniel Chan, the same could not be said for Joey Yung. After her encounter with Eason Chan, Yung remarked: "I blushed a little bit at first but I didn't feel awkward at all. Eason and I know each other so well we just wanted to have some fun and show the audience a good time!"

During his taping session, Dicky Cheung avoided "kissing" Ruby Lin by picking William So Wing-Hong as his game partner. Nonetheless, Cheung and Lin did show off some of the chemistry that has made their pairing in DUKE OF MT. DEER so popular. Related images (courtesy Apple Daily):

The next day, Cheung and Lin attended a publicity event / autograph session for their television series DUKE OF MT. DEER 2000. Also at the event were co-stars Patrick Tam Yiu-Man, Teresa Mak Ka-Kei, Athena Chu Yan, Annie Wu (Ng Sun-Kwun), Monica Chan Fat-Yung, and Dicky Cheung's real-life girlfriend Cheung Sai. During the event, Cheung Sai openly admitted that she was jealous of Ruby Lin and the on screen chemistry that Lin shares with Dicky Cheung. Cheung Sai: "I used to be jealous of Ruby Lin because Dicky openly praised her after they shot some romantic scenes together. As his girlfriend, it's natural for me to be unhappy because of that. However, Dicky later talked to me about it me and I wasn't jealous anymore. When will we get married? I don't want to say because I don't want to put any pressure on Kin-Jai (Dicky Cheung)."

For her part, Ruby Lin stressed that nothing is going off screen between her and her co-star. Lin: "I've worked before with many actors who have girlfriends so I know how to handle the situation. Kin-Jai and I have nothing going on."

In related news, Annie Wu revealed at the event that she will start work next month on the Taiwanese television adaptation of STORM RIDERS. Reportedly, Peter Ho Yun-Tung (THE TRUTH ABOUT JANE AND SAM, BORN TO BE KING) has been cast in one of the lead male roles. Related images (courtesy Apple Daily unless otherwise indicated):

With her boyfriend Paul Wong Kwoon-Chung by her side, Athena Chu Yan attended the premiere of her new movie NEVER SAY GOODBYE the night before last. Also in attendance was Chu's co-star the newcomer Chai Chi-Yiu. Nicky Wu Kei-Lung, the lead actor in the film, did not attend the premiere because he was still upset with producers for doctoring the film to make it look like he bared his buttocks. In NEVER SAY GOODBYE, Chu plays a woman who finds it hard to say goodbye to her cheatin' boyfriend (played by Wu). Commenting on her character, Chu stressed that it would never happen to her in real life: "My character is really wishy-washy when it comes to dumping Nicky Wu's character. In real life though it would never happen to me. I'm quite firm when it comes to this kind of thing. I could never be friends with someone who used to be my boyfriend. Anyway, things that happen in the past are best forgotten. Let's just say that I'm very happy with things right now." Related images (courtesy Apple Daily):

MISCELLANEOUS FLUFF:

- After weeks of speculation and rumours, Karen Mok Man-Wai and Cecilia Cheung Bak-Chi finally reported to the Zhuhai set of Stephen Chiau Sing-Chi's new film SHAOLIN FOOTBALL early yesterday morning. Previously, rumours had circulated that there was bad blood between Chiau and Mok as well as a contract dispute between Chiau and Cheung. Nevertheless, the three appeared to be on friendly terms as they were in good spirits on the set yesterday. Despite the fact that Chiau had the set closed to reports to keep the costumes and "looks" of Mok and Cheung a secret, reporters from Apple and Oriental Daily News managed to note that the pair appeared to be dressed as male soccer players and that Cheung had her hair in dreadlocks.

Speaking to reporters after the shoot, Chiau remarked: "Seriously speaking, the shoot today was really rushed. Karen and Bak-Chi both showed up to help me out and I really have to thank them both. They aren't even being paid for the work. They're doing it for friendship not money. That's pretty decent of them!"

In related news, Chiau was spotted at Mok's music concert at the Hung Hom Coliseum earlier this week. Asked to give a review of the concert, Chiau enthused: "It was simply the best. Karen sings very well and she is so sexy on stage. It was so good, people simply did not want to leave." Related images (courtesy Apple Daily):

- In other news, Julian Cheung Chi-Lam and Charmaine Sheh Si-Man began work on their new movie BLUE MOON (YUET MOON PO SAI WAN; lit. MOON OVER SAI WAN) the night before last. The film is the sequel to last year's PERFECT MATCH (PAU MA DEI DIK YUET KWONG (trans. MOONLIGHT OVER HAPPY VALLEY). PERFECT MATCH also starred Cheung and Sheh. In related news, Cheung's real-life girlfriend Anita Yuen Wing-Yi attended a press conference yesterday promoting her new lifestyles series WHAZZUP. The first series produced by the production company run by Charlie Yeung Choi-Lei and her boyfriend Yau Siu-Chi, it has host Yuen traveling to various hot spots in the South East Asia nightclub scene. The ten episode series begins airing on ATV starting March 8th. Related images (courtesy Apple Daily unless otherwise indicated):

- Yesterday, Bowie Lam Bo-Yi met with a few dozen of his fans at an event in the Tsimshatsui district. A recent newcomer to the music industry, Lam has seen his clothing budget skyrocket. Lam: "After I've become a singer, I have to spend a lot of time thinking about what I'm going to wear to each event. Moreover, I've spent over HK$200,000 on new clothes. I don't really need for them to be designer labels. I just have to like it. Two years ago, a clothing company said that they wanted to sponsor me but I felt their clothing style did not match mine so I turned down their offer." Related image (courtesy Apple Daily):

Authorities in charge of advertising in Hong Kong's MTR stations rejected the poster for the film FEEL FOR YOU (left) the day before yesterday because the tagline for the film -- "Sex is the Last Supper. Love is the beginning of a game of hide-and-seek." -- was too "sexually suggestive." After some back and forth between producers and MTR officials, a poster with the tagline: "Romance is the beginning of a game of hide-and-seek. Sex is the the Last Supper." was deemed acceptable. While the difference may appear minor, the critical point is the fact that in the original version the highlighted first charcters in both sentences "sing" (sex) and "oi" (love) was tangentially sexually suggestive while the combination of highlighted first charcaters in the accepted version "ching" (romance) and "sik" (a synonym of sorts for sex) is more innoucous. (SANNEY: I'm just explaining the difference here. I'm not agreeing with the MTR's position. Personally, I'd be too busy looking at Kristy Yang's legs to care what the tagline said.)

Cha Chuen-Yi, the director of FEEL FOR YOU, was livid with the MTR's handling of the situation. Cha: "They basically have something against us because it is a CAT-IIB film. They've messed around with the tagline and now it's completely lost its meaning. Just because something has to do with sex doesn't mean that it is dirty. Even children should understand that with the sex education they are getting in school. Anyway, there are no standards. The poster for EYES WIDE SHUT with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman was much more sexually suggestive and it was approved."

Newcomer Niki Chow Lai-Kei appeared in a wedding dress for the first time in public yesterday (centre) as she shot an ad for a local wedding boutique. Related image (courtesy Apple Daily):

Athena Chu Yan (right) continued to promote her new film NEVER SAY GOODBYE yesterday as she was interviewed by reporters at a Tsimshatsui location. During the session, Chu was asked if she was ever worried that publicizing her relationship with musician Paul Wong Koon-Chung would damage her career. Chu: "Actually, I have to thank the media for this. One time we were out -- this was before we officially began dating -- and reporters saw us and took our pictures. From that moment on, we were seen as a couple in the press. In real life, we hadn't become a couple yet. When I think about it, it's kind of funny because it's like the media nudged us together!" Along with Mak Cheung-Ching, Annie Man Jung-Han and Benny Chan Ho-Man (left) started work on their new TVB historical drama DAI TONG LUNG CHU (lit. TANG DYNASTY DRAGON PEARL) yesterday. The series marks the first collaboration between Chan and Man. Meanwhile, Michael Tong Man-Lung and Nicola Cheung Sun-Yu shot a wedding scene (centre) for the TVB comedy series FM 701 (aka BROADCAST LIVE). The wedding dress was somewhat loose so Cheung had to apply tape in several strategic places to guard against accidental exposure. Asked when she would wear a dress for real in her life, Cheung snapped: "I'm getting a bit sick of wearing these wedding dresses already. I don't even know if I'll be getting married!"

Further, Jessica Suen Huen rounded out a busy day for TVB Studios as she continued work on the historical drama A STEP INTO THE PAST. Related images (courtesy Apple Daily):

In television ratings news, DUKE OF MT. DEER 2000 averaged 35 ratings points last week and -- at its highest point in the week -- broke the forty ratings points barrier. Since 1999, only THE LEGENDARY FOUR ACES, RETURN OF THE CUCKOO, and COLORFUL LIFE have broken the 40 ratings points barrier in fifteen episodes or less. In other TVB ratings news, the Japanese special edition of THE SUPER TRIO SHOW garnered an average of 29 ratings points on its Sunday night broadcast. Over on ATV, the news continues to be abysmal as HEALING HEARTS dropped yet another point from the week before as it only managed an average of six ratings points over last week. It joins ATV's other lacklustre drama DIN SI FUNG WAN (lit. TELEVISION TURBULENCE) at the bottom of the ratings barrel. DIN SI FUNG WAN also finished the week averaging six ratings points. In other televison news, Anita Yuen Wing-Yi (right) arrived in Beijing yesterday to begin work on a five-episode extended cameo appearance in the remake of the television series CHOR LAU HEUNG. Reportedly, Yuen is working on the series after being personally asked by series producer Wong Jing.

- The model Qi Qi -- also known as the wife of Simon Yam Tat-Wah -- shot a commercial for a watch company the day before yesterday. The ad will appear in the Mainland as well as Hong Kong. Recently, Qi Qi lost over HK$200,000 worth of property when her luggage was stolen during a vacation in Morocco while husband Yam worked on location on a film.
