Ashley Nicole Romer was born on June 29, 1999.  The only girl in a family of
boys.  She had a full head of black hair, those deep blue eyes of a new baby
and a great disposition.  Oh how we loved her!  She became a friendly,
outgoing toddler.  Our little snuggle bug, punkin head, tickle bug - she
loved to swing high.  She got sick in March of 2001 with what we thought was
the flu.  In April we found out the awful truth - she had a brain tumor.
She had surgery which successfully removed the whole tumor.  Unfortunately
it was a highly malignant tumor called PNET.  She started chemotherapy in
May.  Her three month MRI looked good.  We were elated!  In September she
began to get sick again - deja vu.  They repeated the MRI and found the
tumor had returned and now had spread throughout her brain and spine.  We
were sent home with instructions for Hospice care.  Death by cancer is
horrible, but we're glad she was home with her family beside her when
she passed away on October 11, 2001.

With us such a short time, in our hearts forever.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is

Childrens brain cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in
children yet there are been very little progress in the last 25 years. Our
pediatric oncologist,  Michael Etzl, M.D., is starting a consortium with
doctors from around the state to research childrens brain tumors. They
are based at Phoenix Childrens Hospital in Phoenix, AZ.  I am doing
what I can to raise donations in Ashley's name to find better
treatment for this disease. To donate mail to:

If I could have a lifetime wish,
A dream that would come true,
I'd pray to God with all my heart
for yesterday and you.
A thousand words can't bring you back;
I know because I've tried.
And neither will a million tears,
I know because I've cried.
You left behind my broken heart
And happy memories too.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

REMEMBER ME

Remember me as I was;
Full of life, stomping, playing, happy, talking, laughing, swinging high.

Not what I had become:
Crying, sick, tired, scared, hairless, lifeless

Don't dwell there
Remember me as I was  -  For that is who will greet you in Heaven.
